Jane and Lori...thanks. Whatever they say is fine. They might be interested to know, however, that our sailor most likely would not have been introduced to the idea of joining the Navy if he wasn't living with us! We were his parental figures. His "Mom" unfortunately is not actively involved in his life, nor his motherly role model. He is supported and loved by both of his grandmas and both grandpas!

Jane...Cindy...everyone... I'm interested in the East Valley Blue Star Moms meeting...but I'm "grandma" not "Mom." Our sailor granson lived with us and is more like our son than a grandson! Is that still okay????

Joyce Tucson Mom...I sent you a friend request and message, but wanted to add to it here because I ran out of character space. I was wondering if you would give me permission to resize the photo of AZMoms at top of page here. I'm a web designer/graphic designer and would be happy to help so that it loads without being stretched out. It loads long and skinny because it's too big for the space allowed here.Currently it is 2826 x 2112 pixels (9 x 7 inches) and 300 dpi. I will resample it to 72 dpi and size accordingly. Not everyone has the software to do this, so I'd be happy to help anytime!

Happy Memorial Day everyone. A friend sent me this video today. I thought you'd all enjoy it too. It's a short tribute given by Oliver North in 2009 but still very moving and appropriate today.

Got our form letter today!!!! He is in one of the ceremonial divisions!!!!  It's so good to get this so soon.  We weren't expecting this for at least another week. He wants his contacts at graduation.  Not surprised about that, but we were planning on taking them.  Very pleased!!!

That's for sure.  I can't wait to get that form letter.  He is planning on making this his career.  He said he wished he had done it when he got out of high school, but I think he needed to grow up a bit & really find his direction.  And you are right - it isn't any easier, but knowing what to expect does help get through it.

We got our son's clothes yesterday.  That's step one - now we wait for the letter.  It doesn't seem like he's already been gone for a week.

Hi Ang....my son graduated from Cienega High School in '09. Took some classes at PCC, worked, moved out......decided he needed more structure. He has a best friend who has been in the Navy since Sept. '09 and loves it. We went and talked to the recruiter with him and before I knew it he was signed and leaving! Lol.He just left for BC on April 13.  He is such a good kid with a great heart. I think he is going to do very well.

What part of Tucson do you live in. How long has your son been in the Navy? Do Tucson moms ever get together? I am so new to this whole military world that I enjoy all the info but I am also a little overwhelmed.
