kathy...you have spoken true words and given good advice. I too will live the rest of my life missing my son who I lost when he was only 26 yrs. old. He was a civilian, but when you lose a child, it doesn't matter how, why or under what circumstances...it hurts all the same. And yes, God brings people to you during your time of need, and God also gives you the strength to help others going through this terrible tragedy.

I thank God for the blessing of my sailor grandson!

Dillons Mom...dear lady...you ball (cry)...we all ball when we see, hear, read something about ALL our sailors (and all military branches for that matter) because the goodness of the matter touches our heart. Our spirit and the true essence of who we are always recognizes GOODNESS in the world, and the honor and courage of our servicemen and women are part of that goodness. Be proud of those tears!

JoJo...Dang it girl....now you got me crying all over again watching the video!!!!

Wasn't that the most awesome thing ever??!!! Thank you for raising a fine young man and allowing him to serve...and thanks for joining us here on Navy 4 Moms!

JoJo..where he attends A school is determined by what his rate (job) will be. Different rates have their training in different locations...not all are at at GL. The rates I know of that have A school at GL are ET and FC. (others too I would guess...but I don't know much else!)

JoJo!  How absolutely wonderful!  Thank you so much for sharing!  It brought back so many rememberances from 5 1/2 years ago - and it brought tears to my eyes.  Thank you again.  And thank your son for serving!  I know you must be so very proud.

Dillons Mom...Cindy...I'm so excited for Dillon and for you...but I also feel and understand your apprehensiveness...it's another big step for him and you! He's moving forward in his career! Congrats!

JoJo.. our recruiting office also was Chandler. If yours is on Chandler Blvd, and...just by chance... IF his recruiter's name is Patterson, I'll tell you right now you NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE ELSE. If this is the case, ask to talk to Petty Officer Harris. He is awesome and very attentive and caring.

I do know that all sailors are given to opportunity (kind of extra credit thing) to work with the recruiters when they are home on leave, or between deployements, etc.

Jane, so sorry to hear about the hospital corpsman. There are just too many losses still happening. Sending prayers to his family and comforting thoughts to your son as well for the loss of a fellow sailor. Very sad.
