Anita.... I think that was awesome that Eric and his shipmates had their lunch paid for at the airport! We had a similar experience during PIR weekend. Hubby, me, and our sailor had breakfast at an I-HOP. When we got to the register, we were told someone paid the bill as a "thank you." We asked who it was so we could thank them, but were told the person wanted to remain anonymous.
Needless to say, we all got teary eyed and were so surprised. My husband thought it was very special because in the past, servicemen/women from the Vietnam era didn't get any appreciation, and finally it has turned around again that people honor and do appreciate those in service.
Didn't you just love PIR?!! You were so smart to take video. I was so excited that day and loved it, but being able to watch a video again later is just like being there all over again....and seeing things you don't remember seeing that day!
JoJo....you are gonna LOVE it!
I am so sorry and sad to hear the news of yet more losses of our brave, young, servicemen. Too too much this past week. I will hold each of them and their loved ones in my heart and in my prayers.
Jojo, Maureen will be so happy! I'll email you her phone # in case you don't have it already.
Wow, you ladies have been busy! I was finally able to get online, but I had a lot of reading to do to catch up.
JoJo - Dillons Mom and Jane are right. Your son may leave early to fly somewhere else right after the graduation. My son and 3 of his buddies flew out for Pensacola for one month the day after we left Chicago. They sure liked the warmer weather! While in O'Hare Airport, they were in uniform and eating lunch, when the waiter came up and told them their lunches had been paid for them by a gentleman in the restaurant as a thank you to them. Eric and the others were overwelmed! Also, when we went to Eric's graduation, we sat up high and video taped the whole thing - we were able to pinpoint Eric when he came in, so we were able to follow him. We and everyone around us was crying - we were all so proud of our sons and daughters! I would not have missed it for the world. I was able to take the video tape to a place in Mesa to have a DVD made so we could send it to Eric's grandmother in Ohio. She loved it!
So very sorry to hear about the recent losses of the Navy Seals.
Marcy - I'll be praying for your friend's son's friends lost in battle. So very sad!
I'll pm you later today Jojo :)
