Thanks, aznavymom44! I am in north Scottsdale. I guess it is good and builds character when they have to learn about a real honest to goodness winter! We gave him long underwear and he was sooo glad to have it! His shipmates were very impressed and wanted to find some too. It was a humorous conversation. I think it is true, these new sailors will probably always remember their days in Boot Camp and the close friends they made along the way.

Congrats MxSailorMom, what part of Arizona are you in? I'm in Marana, and our weather sure beats Great lakes, huh. My son had PIR in April, hoping all of the snow is gone by then.

Hello to the Arizona Navy Moms! I am new to this group. My son made PIR on 1/3/14. We nearly froze in the Polar Vortex, so our warm AZ smiles made a huge difference to him! He is still at GL for A School, and everything has been delayed. He told me he really misses AZ in a big way! I think he will be happy when they "class up". He sure has changed since leaving home. So far, this has been a great experience for him. It will be great to share stories with all of you.

Welcome new members!

JTFsubmom, how exciting for your son and for you!  I got to tour a sub in Norfolk a couple of years ago, fascinating.

aznavymom44, what will your son's job, called his rating, be?  There will be a NavyforMoms.com group for it, and it's a great place to get info.  And are you able to attend boot camp graduation/Pass in Review?  This is a good group for getting information - http://navyformoms.com/group/pirreferenceinformation

Cool, I got to add a new town to our list above - Marana!

Hi...I'm from Tucson. My son is in Groton CT. And now in A school. He will be a radio man on subs and is scheduled to graduate May 29th. Not sure where he'll be assigned yet.
