He didnt tell me that-he said that there were only 2 poistions and he took one and the other sailor I mentioned earlier took the other-apparently no one else wanted them-there were mulitple VLS positions and apparently those were prized positions

he did say there were also multiple carrier positions on the list and he did not want one of those

He told me again that all the class already have their orders so, apparently something has changed-he said if someone had orders and did not graduate the orders were no longer valid and they would be handled accordingly-like I say I have no idea-gut as Gary T says in the Navy it is always wait and see and everything changes sometimes daily-thanks all for the input

Again, I don't know about GM but FC's got to pick their orders according to class standing...until last November. Now they've changed it so they fill out dream sheets during A-school. It may be that the same thing happened to GM's. I wish they hadn't changed it for FC's because my husband had the highest grade in his class so he would have gotten first pick. Wah! Lol

My husband is an FC, not a GM but at his A-school graduation a few weeks ago there was a class of GM's graduating too and they all had their orders already, so I think that it's possible your grandson's class is getting them already...but I don't have any insight why he hasn't gotten his yet but I'm sure he will soon.

I have no idea-maybe he is mistaken. He said there were only 2 openings for 5" guns and they picked those.  He said if he got what he wanted he would be going to San Diego for c school and then back to Norfolk and would be on the Anzio cruiser-as far as me I have no idea-maybe he is confused about what is a temp order and what was a wish list

My grandson will be graduating GM A-school in about 3 weeks-everyone in his class has received their orders except for him and one other sailor.  They requested 5" guns.  Is this normal?  Talked to him last night and his orders still have not been posted-rest of class has had their orders for almost 3 weeks
