While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Frocking means that a sailor has passed the requirements to advance, but is still a little short on time in service to actually do so. They can request permission to wear the new rank, receive the benefits such as barracks room assignments, and take on the new responsibilities. They get a new ID card with the new rank on it. All of the trimmings of advancement except PAY. Not exactly the same as pinning.

Thank you Phoenixmom it’s pretty exciting. Butterball, frocking is basically the promotion ceremony. PIR was June 2. Kind of like when police officers first join a department or move up in rank they have a ceremony and “pinning”

Barefootie, what is a frocking? I don't understand this talk, I work at the police department, I know police verbage. Help me. When did your sailor graduate bc, mine did 8/25

Butterball, your sailor is exactly mine. ATT School was 11 weeks. Mine is still in A school which is around 26 weeks. He to graduated boot camp as an E-3 and upon graduation will be an E-4 petty officer, or FC3. I will attend his graduation and his frocking in January

Once she checks into her A school, they will let her know when she can request leave, and help her put in her request. They really do want the student sailors to take leave over the holiday. She may have to travel in uniform, and would be under her new rules of no driving or drinking alcohol.

Thank you! She will be glad to hear that. I know she may not get it because she will be so new in, but I think she is really going to need it. I’ll tell her to put in as soon as she can
