From what I understand there are several different locations for A school it just matters her job and where training is for that job.  When my daughter enlisted she took or assigned an OS position.  Once she finished BC (7/13/18) she stayed in Great Lakes (GL) because from what I understand this is where OS school is located.  She is currently on hold since OS training/school does not start till 7/30 or 8/6.  Then she will begin her training. I honestly don't know much about the Navy or system  but this site /people are full of very helpful information and support.

Thank you Anti M this  makes me feel better.  I appreciate all your knowledge and help.

For example, I put in the name of a ship and the word sponsor, and got this result:

http://www.reagan.navy.mil/sponsor.html

She should be able to do that easily for wherever she is assigned next, and there will be links to the Welcome Aboard package, and more.

There is a number or email on their orders/the official website for their new ship or command.  They request a sponsor.  Some sponsors are much better than others.  The sponsor is at the new command and helps them check in and find everything they need to go and do to get started.

For leaving Great Lakes, they should be given a checkout list, and their COC/chief/LPO can help guide them through the process.  How to arrange their travel through SATO, medical screening if needed, transferring their records from medical, etc.

Usually they get a number to call for a Sponsor and then they are given direction from the sponsor and Sponsor usually meet up with them or given direction as to what to do when they arrive. I know they had no rooms when my son was sent to his Duty Station but they did give my son a room elsewhere.

This is a great site for information and support, Thank You.  My daughter is in OS A school right now and we are just waiting to hear she has received her orders just to prepare.  The unknown is always so hard for me but this site helps - thanks again.  Do they have to find there own sponsor in A school, I guess the sponsor helps them get everything in order before they go to there duty station?

Good Morning Folks Happy Wednesday!

Yes oh so true, looks like everyone in my Son's classes received their Orders before he did. I believe a week before A school was done he received his orders and hurried to get a sponsor for his Duty Station.
