Rainy, I agree with the moms on here and wait to send her something. They should be back to their home port very soon.
Thanks ladies for the info on the ship to shore calling cards. My son is looking at deployment very soon and I will need that information too.
wisconsinmom, thanks for the info on RIMPAC. It was a great relief for some reason to know what he's doing and it sounds like another awesome opportunity for him. He texted as soon as they made it to port. :-) His shop has a computer and he was able to email every couple of days while they were on their way. Not having that frequent communication is hard-he's my oldest and the first to leave the nest. :-) Thanks for all the support ya'll!!
Rainy365, my son has a shipboard at&t card. we have his account number for the card and a toll free number. we call and put money on his card all the time.
Ok, a friend found this website for the calling cards for anybody else that may be looking for the Ship to Shore Prepaid Calling Cards: https://shop.aafes.com/scs/Product.aspx?deptid=42000
GM good people. My daughter has been emailing me from the ship that she wants AT&T calling cards because there are payphones on the ship which can be used to call home. She stressed they must be AT&T. Where or how do I get these AT&T specific calling cards. I checked AT&T's website where you can purchase calling minutes online and it says: "Virtual AT&T Worldwide PrePaid minutes will NOT work on Navy ships and Coast Guard vessels." Therefore, Im thinking I must find the actual calling card for her to use. Anybody with advice, thank you.
Anyone have an idea when the Nimitz will be arriving at Pearl Harbor/Hickam?
She probably doesn't know what her department is yet. So it would be hard for you to send stuff until she has that.
Hi, can someone plz tell me how to addres a letter to the Stennis...my daughter just got there friday, and of course they are on their way. She didnt remember to give me the address, darn-it. She just got out of A school in Pensacola and BC. This new navy mom, thanks you in advance for your help.
RIMPAC is short for Rim of the Pacific, a training exercise held every two years in Hawaii. It includes many countries from the Pacific including Australia and New Zealand. This year is the largest ever, including Russia for the first time. They not only do military exercises together but there are sports competitions and cultural exchanges. We were in Hawaii in 2010 and saw many different foreign uniforms. Our daughter married a Marine and they were stationed at MCB Kaneohoe then.
