Any faimlies with sailors on carriers? My son is just going to report to the Nimitz... just thought it would be nice to get to know other parents whose sailors are on them and how much contact do you get?

You are so welcome!  The FB page is great to follow anyway as they put up pictures and/or video almost every day.  Saw my daughter for an entire second in the Halloween shout-out they posted today :-)

Down in this discussion somewhere there is a link someone provided for me to the Family Readiness Group on Facebook.  That would be a good one to link to also!

Hi momofcurtis, I heard that we should watch the JCS Facebook page for updates.  They posted a note about the cruise and said more to follow.  Also, the JCS group here on navyformoms.com has a very active discussion going about the cruise among other things.

Undesignated airman it not a bad thing. That is want my daughter went in as. They just can't get passed E3 until they get a designation. She finely picked one and took the test last week. Still waiting to see if she passed.

Beach Detachment is a group of Stennis personnel that are in Bremerton to accept those coming to the Stennis while she is deployed.  Sandbox is Arabian Sea/Persian Gulf.  Undesignated airman would just be assigned to the the Air Department and could be assigned to one of many aivation divisions which include Flight Deck (V-1), Hangar Bay (V-3), Arresting Gear (V-2) which could be on the Flight Deck or below deck in the arresting gear room), Fueling (V-4), Ordinance (V-5), V6, and V7.
