Any faimlies with sailors on carriers? My son is just going to report to the Nimitz... just thought it would be nice to get to know other parents whose sailors are on them and how much contact do you get?

Does anybody out there know of a family how to find one that can "adopt" my Sailor son in Norfolk VA for Christmas? He is on the Eisenhower carrier and is home now but will be leave to head back to VA the 19th. Thanks for your help!

Connie, Alan has a laptop, cell phone and camera. He locks it up. Be sure he has his software and warranty papers though. Alan's crashed and all that stuff was at home.

They all have curtains but these are nice and thick and keep out noise and keep them a little warmer inside..they are a heacy duty black canvas. they jus cgon on the the inside to the exsisting curtain. They have several poackets and a couple that are clear so they can put picture in them and their names are embrodried on them too.

What size Rack Pack did you order? I was thinking the 5 foot?
Comment by AngiePNMx2 on December 6, 2008 at 11:55pm
We ordered a rack pack and it it very nice, It has pockets in it acouple are clear to put pictures in it It also has his last name embrodried on it.. I think that at night my sailor will put his alarm clock in it sot hat it isn't floating around his rack but when he is gone there will be nothing in it that can't easily be relpaced or doesn't have a lot of value.

Brenda, unless your son is huge, he can turn over. My son is 6'1" and it is alittle short for him, but he is very broad shouldered and turns fine.
And I found them more comfortable than I expected. but it is cold in the berthing, so flannel sheets are a good idea.

Brenda, he is assigned to the ship, not a squadron? I talked to some sailors who were assigned to the ship in Everett when I was on tiger cruise and they live on the ship.
don't know about blindfolding, but I'd say that would be pretty dangerous. they might have a little crazy ceremony like that, like they do when they cross the equator.
I'll ask my son if he has heard any of that.
