Good information Dee! DC does stand for damage controlman-I learned that on one of the many tours on tiger cruise on the Lincoln. Ben has a friend from college who is a DC.
It is so hard to believe that 1 month ago right this minute, I was on an airplane headed to Hawaii to begin my great adventure! Time goes by too fast.
Ben was thrilled to man the rails and I now understand why. It was very hot on the flight deck as we left Pearl Harbor and I was standing in the shade of a plane. We left at 9 am and it was slow going out, but it wasn't 2 hours. We had a meeting in the squadron's ready room at 10:30 am that we were early for. The picture if me sleeping in the chair is from that meeting-check my page. lol. It is a beautful thing to see though and now I have an even greater appreciation for it.

Boy, I don't have any information on this. My mom died while Ben was on a training deployment and we didn't even try. I figured he wouldn't be able to come.

I was surprised about San Diego, but the sailors with the airwings were so busy getting their shops packed up and getting ready to leave and the berthings were being cleaned etc. -lots of activity going on, so I would think that had something to do with it.

I can only tell you about the Lincoln. When they deployed in March, no manning. Don't know about coming into Pearl Harbor, I will ask Ben. Rails manned leaving Hawaii. No Rails coming into San Diego. Don't know about Everett, but I am pretty sure they did.
As far as every port goes, I don't think they do it for foreign ports. I would think it is a safety issue.
