Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Comment by lemonelephant on May 5, 2016 at 12:06am: MomOf3, that is an honor and a lot of responsibility that will help her as she prepares for BC and will help her in BC and she may even be assigned a leadership position based on her experience in DEP. She will serve as a mentor to others in DEP and will help them as they prepare for BC.

Comment by New2Navy on April 26, 2016 at 2:52pm: My son leaves exactly 2 weeks from today. I'm not feeling sad or anxious yet. I am ready for him to start this adventure. He has been without direction for two years since HS grad and he is a smart young man who needs to find his purpose, his passion and a way to use his brain! I'm hoping the Navy Nuke program will provide all that and more. So excited for him. But, all that being said I will still worry about him and not being able to text to talk will be tough. Can let the "worrying mind" get to me - especially during the middle of the night!

Comment by bluediamond on April 25, 2016 at 9:25am: @DogAddictedMom~Time will fly by so fast...the best way I dealt with it was by always being on this site which made me laugh and cry, gave me hope and strength. But also by planning my sons going away party it helped to take my mind off of his leaving. And well here I am today....his swear-in is in a couple of hours and off he goes to GL. You stay strrong and make the most of these last few precious moments left. There will be a roller coaster of emotions but oh so worthwhile when you see the pride on their face. Hugs to you momma and STAY STRONG!!!!
