We are doing these units. They are out of Wisconsin (of which I am a native) and were at Ft. Hood when the terrorist attack occured on early November. They lost several members of each unit. Dori suggested that we do something special on the pillowcases for this unit and we chose angels because medical people are "angels of mercy". Maryellen is our mom coordinator for these units. She is doing an outstanding job already getting us the necessary information.

467th - this unit will a combo of then bands of angels and the appliques on the pillowcases. There are 46 in this unit, 21 female and 25 males.

1908th - this unit will have also have a combo of both types of  angel pillowcases.  There are 46 in this unit, 12 female, 34 male.

Fallen heroes - we are going to give the family of each fallen soldier a pillowcase to remember their loved one. There are 5. Lyn has graciously said that she will embroider something special.  The Wounded will get the same type as the unit. FRG contacts. There are 2 and Maryellen will make those.

I am posting some other photos that were sent this month too.

Maryellen, They make special boxes for those flags. It would be a good way to keep it safe and to display it.
you can get them at Michaels and this is just beautiful. As I said in the interview and I am sure you all feel the say way:

I am humbled and honored to do this for our military.

Good going Maryellen!
she called me today to tell me. made me cry too that our troops would take that kind of time to do this for her.

on another note, I got this email from Tamara the other day and thought you would enjoy it too:
Hi Sue,
You know you’re addicted to making pillowcases when your husband brings you flowers for Valentine’s Day and you wanted a gift certificate to JoAnns instead.

She filled a very special request that I had from Joe. He's the guy that I get some contacts from and sent his sister to my house to see if I was real. He also goes to the 3 military hospitals in his area once a month and puts on a special dinner for our troops. And he's asked me to come to one this summer.
Anyway, he has local beauty queens come to visit our troops. 2 of them had surgery and he asked for pcs for them. I was kind of torn about doing that and happened to mention to Tamara. She offered to buy the fabric, make and mail them. And she also looked up each woman and found their likes.
I was really blessed because I didn't want to say no, yet didn't want to say yes. She took care of it. here's the picture and I will let Tamara post the thank you note that she received.

Hi All, I had the honor and priviledge of making pillowcases for the two beauty queens. Below is a thank you note I have received.

"I just wanted to say thanks for the pillow case, I love it!! I am a huge fan of doggies so it made my day!! Thanks for all you do to put a smile on someone's face. It is my pleasure to help out with the soldiers, my husband is in the Air Force reserve for 11 yrs now and I am thankful for all that the soldiers and their families sacrifice for us each day. I feel great, back to work this week so I am just about fully recovered!

Warmly,

Kxxx Mxxx"
Maryellen, What a very special gift.
Oh, that brings chills!
Maryellen, so glad you received such an awesome gift!
check a frame shop - they can make one
They also carry them in the framing dept in JoAnn fabrics. That way you could kill two birds with one stone. Buy the flag case and fabric all in the same trip.
love it. Hey Lyn, what did you get at the yarn expo you went to? Tamara's post made me think of that again.
Here's the email's that I have received from a marine on the Cleveland! Start at the bottom. He sounded like he was looking for emails, so I'll keep writing to him. would the mom who made this one, please raise their hand? haha. Thank you crew for all you do for Heads at Ease. I am blessed!

#3 Hey, I am still awake but am about to head that way LOL. I am glad to be headed home after this long deployment and to get to see my family. I am glad that we have people out there like you that understand what we go through. The battle field is a place that none of us want to be but we do it to protect our families. Well I guess I am off to bed and look forward to hearing from you again sometime.

#2 Hey, the one that I have is red and the trim is a placarded pattern with green, and tan. Wish your soon good luck for me. I am really glad to be headed home and out of this mess. All I want to do is get home and see my family. It is good to here that people are thinking and praying for us because trust me after what we are coming back from we need all that we can get. Well I am off to sleep and look forward to hearing from you again. I get on has much as possible and so fill free to write anytime. Goodnight

Response from me:
I'm so glad that you like it and are sleeping better! And no it doesn't sound dorky at all to say that. In fact, that is "music" to my crew's ears! This is really what it's all about. We want our troops to know that someone is thinking and praying for them while they are away from us.

Can you tell me which one you got? I take pictures of them and most of my crew does too.
Thank you for your service!

Subject: hey

Hey, my name is travis and I am a Marine. The pillowcases that you sent got to ship and passed out to who ever wanted or needed one and I ended up with one of yours and I just want to say thank you very much for all that you have done for us all. We are currently on the way home and I have never slept as good as I have been with the new pillowcase as dorky as that sounds but its true LOL. Thank and I would love to here back if you get the chance.

THANK YOU
