Lyn's son is coming home and she will be meeting the sub. Since they can't get packages or mail while deployed, the MWR does welcome home packages. She had a burden to give each sailor a handmade pillowcase. She knew she could do 40, got help from a friend for 10.
Then she asked HAE if we could help. I told her YES. We want all the sailors to have a wonderful welcome home.
If you are interested in making some and mailing them to her direct, she will take them with her for the packages. Please send me a pm and I will give you her address.
She needs them in hand by 9-23-09. At that time she will tell me how many she has and I will mail the balance needed to her.
And if you do make some, please post the pictures in this thread. Thanks!!!!

I mailed 35 pillowcases today Lyn. I am posting a picture of 33 of them. Once I packed the 33, I had room for 2 more, plus that little piece of fabric.
I only made one in this group. It is close to the front, cream bottom with a slate blue band and words "home of the free" etc-a Debbie Mum fabric. 2nd row from the front.
The last row, right hand side-that is eagles-different poses very cool. I got that piece at a thrift store.
Lyn, I put my package of pillowcases in the mail today. You should receive them next week.
Lyn, I just did my count of pillowcases. With your 50, I figure you should be at 95. I know 35 more are in the mail. Have you received anymore?

My VA friend will be mailing tomorrow and I want to give her an accurate count on how many to send. thanks.
You've got the same count that I have. There are 80 packed in the boxes right now. I have the other 15 cut out and will be sewing them over the next week or so. Right now I'm working on the Football pillowcases.
did you get anymore today?
Dori, Lyn got your pillowcases today.
Woo-hoo! Feels good to know they arrived. I wish that I would get confirmation from the Crommelin!
me too. Debbie had a comment that her son got his on the aloha page. world flags. I hope to hear more.
But I didn't make one with world flags. I did make some with signal flags.
Lyn, did you get the 15 from the quilting group in CA?
No, nothing from CA. I'm OK anyway because my sewing guild came through with a few extra. If they show up, I'll add them to the group for Oct.
