Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPpers leaving in the month of August (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

We are an extension of the group DEPpers/Future Sailors....in, but not gone yet- see the link above.

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like what to send with them to Boot Camp and BC videos! :)

So if you have general information and comments that will be helpful and/or encouraging for ALL new DEP/Future Sailor Moms, then leave it in that main DEPper/Future Sailors Group, but if you have August ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in August, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Good Morning Ladies :)

Sobe - congrats to your son. that is quite an accomplishment!
DanaMN - hang in there girl. We are all here for you.
gcmb - we too are going to be moving my son out of his room. i haven't done it yet though. we are actually switching rooms with him and my youngest daughter. since she is the only child at home now, i figured she could get the biggest kids room. my husband and her actually tried to do all the switching the day after my son left, and i was so mad at them for doing it, that i made them put it all back. i felt it was too soon at that moment. he was trying to be helpful and get it done since he was off work that day, and i wasn't. but again, it was too soon for me.
Simply - i too called my sons recruiter for the address. in fact i called him tuesday of last week and talked to him. he said he'd get it for me, well guess what? here it is a week later and i have yet to hear from him! so good thing the form letter came in the mail that same day.
Becky - it was so good to hear from you. More prayers are on the way. keep us posted.

And to all the new moms just sending your kids off or getting ready to send them off...big hugs, stay strong, it does get better :)

Have a good morning :)

My son is at MEPS. My husband's Aunt works in the same federal building so she went to see him and give him a hug. He said the bus goes to the airport at 11:45. He told her to tell me he probably wouldn't be able to call. I hope he can call or text from the airport. I don't think they could prevent that. Auntie called me and said he looked scared. DH is thinking of driving over there from work to see him off and one last hug. I can't go. I'm sure I'd sob and make it even harder. My heart is just breaking. I want to protect him, but I know I can't. This will give him strength and confidence.... and help him become a man. But my head hurts from crying too much. Please remind me that it will be ok.

Deemedic, Dwayne is leaving on 8/24 also. That would be great if they got into the same division . At least we can start supporting each other we have some tough days ahead of us.

I'm right behind you, my son leaves in six days. I can't image what it is going to be like. He is my first born and we are very close. To make matters worse we are moving to another state 8 days later. This site has ready helped me it is a great support system. Just remember graduation is the next mile stone and you will so proud of your son. Keep your chin up he won't be gone forever, you will see him in a couple of weeks.

Well I have made it 8 days now. Cried 6 out of the 8. Got the box on Monday but still no letter. I am so anxious for that letter to get here. Started cleaning out his room so we can paint and I just ended up on the floor crying. I know you ladies are feeling the same way. It has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I am really enjoying this site and am praying for all of you. We will make it through together...

Bonnie, if you search the webiste there is a group that is about graphics. You can go in there & save the graphics (just don't make any changes to them) you can send some of those. I have sent funny pictures, just be aware to keep it clean, not political, not racial....blah, blah, blah. Yeah, send some pics, maybe a few family pics. Probably just print them on paper though. If you look back in the pages to last week; Angie listed how the address will look. You can go by that. I wanted for the form letter; many because when I called for the address from his recruiter, I got no answer & no retrun call. :( So, I just keep writing & tried to be patient. They have said Lots of time that the form letter address is always correct, but the recruiter address is usually wrong. No worries if you mailed using the recruiter address, they will still get there, will just take a little longer! Hang in there all of you.........You Can Do! It Does Get Better, we hae been there. :)
