For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Also, remember that sometimes right after attacks, the communications are shut down on purpose so you may not hear from your Bee for a few hours or even a day...I understand they did shut down communication right after this attack...

Yes, thanks, Joanie! Command used to encourage them all to call home or email after a situation like yesterdays, but with facebook in the picture now, perhaps that's not as likely to happen. They do not want you to worry unnecessarily, we know there's plenty of worry to go around , no need for extra.
Please remember to come here when these tough times are on the news, or whenever the fear is over whelming, and even if you just want a little contact with others who are thinking just like you...you are not alone...the loved ones of our military are right there with you, with comfort and prayer. Let us know if you hear from anyone today, just remember to be selective about what you share online from any conversation with him/her. They are confiding in mom and dad, not all of us!

Thank you, Joanie!!! It seems that when we need to hear from them, they are too busy to be in contact. I'm sure you still want your own message, but at least the panic has been removed. (Wise command!)

So proud of you ladies sticking together and stepping up for each other...and yes, no news IS good news, and yes, they are very busy. They need to stay focused, get the job done and stay safe, and you can bet the bank, that's what they are doing.
I had some words for my son when he returned because I went over 3 weeks without a word, email, nothing...and he said "I went 3 weeks without a shower". So I shut up!
I'm just thinking of those Marine moms who haven't heard from their kids and we know there are Marine causalities at Camp Leatherneck.

Hang in there, Ladies! I'm hoping and praying right along with you, but I want to remind you that if you DON'T hear from your kid, it doesn't mean anything except they are busy. If you don't hear someone knocking on your door, assume they are safe. Just keep coming in here...if no one is here at the moment, someone will be shortly. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Exactly! I am ready for the first email or FB messsge home.. He was not allowed to take his phone. But took his laptop. Its almost like boot camp all over again minus the not in this country aspect. LOL

I agree that it is better to be in the dark. It has been awile since I have heard from my son and this is the first deployment for us. I just keep telling myself the boot camp mantra that no news is good news and that they are all well trained and prepared to do their jobs. It is helping me to not freak out. It really helps to chat with everyone.
