For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hey Texas Doc MOM! Love the post of the dogs you posted! Thanks! Always thinking of you and yours. Ry is moving to another FOB. Why I have no idea! He sent me an email freaked me. Said Mom I will cherish every moment I spend with you when I come home. Of course cried for days! Patrice I am thinking of you and your son and praying for his safe return. Texas Doc don't know how you dig those articles up! Oh Texas Doc Mom! Ry does not talk like that lovey and all that! Might have to frame email!

This reminded me of when my son was deployed and one of his reasons he said he didn't call was that the phone hut was across the compound and they were in heavy sandstorms for days in a row, unable to see or move around much outdoors.

I'm so proud of the way the Bin Laden situation was handled....from top to bottom, all the ranks, and keeping it secure and confidental. And with Navy SEALS!! whoohoo!
I think, and this is just my opinion and we all know what opinions are like...but this is mine...as far as our troops boots down in Afghanistan, their danger level remains the same, not more in danger and not less in danger. You know they are on heightened alerts anyway, and they are paying attention, and I bet they are so proud of their fellow warriors who pulled off that mission yesterday. Bin Laden killed many Muslims as well as our fellow Americans, I don't know that the average Afgani really gave a rat's ass about the man.

I agree with you, Chief. I'm sure everyone is geared up and ready for whatever comes their way, but ridding the world of one person does not end a war.
On another note, the temperatures are horrible over there. When my son got there last year, they didn't have any ice or coolers, and even though they kept the bottled water in the shade, they could still brew tea with it! Luckily, he is a "Can Do" Seabee and he was able to do some bartering with some Army guys. (Think about cooling scarves, cheap multipacks of socks, Monkeybutt powder, and stuff for athlete's foot)
