For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

eurekamom.....AIT is the "Army Language" for "Advanced Individual Training" same exact term for "A" School in the Navy after PIR. ("A" = "Apprentice") A lot of military personal still use the AIT term from years back.

Does anyone remember what AIT stands for? And, just for the heck of it, has anyone ever typed in an acronym on the "Navy speak" feature on Navy4moms and had something actually defined? No matter what I've tried to look up there over the years, it always says "Sorry." Anyway, I think the AIT is what your address is while you're in "A" school, just not sure.

Haven't been able to catch up with everyone for a while. Lots of family things going on here at home. Medical issues with family members.
Kathy, I so enjoyed your comment about the grocery bill. When our son was coming home for his pre-deployment leave, my husband asked 'How much love did we buy?' after I had gone grocery shopping.
Tamme, so glad your days are at least at the 30 day mark. I keep telling myself I will be there someday. Mine will not be until the spring or summer. But I still have hope.

MalaMama...The devastation out there was horrible to view on the news. I'm so glad you shared your story, as I often think about our young heroes here on our own soil, helping the many in need from our own disasters.

Absolutely not. I think you should be in touch with a Navy mom I know who works with a group who makes and sends cards to out deployed folks so they have cards available to send home to their loved ones. She might have a thought about getting those cards made.
