OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

New Year confetti

That's what we don't know, Chele.  If different divisions have different passwords.  Has this person received the I'm a Sailor call yet?  If not, she can ask her new sailor the password then since he/she wrote it in the form letter.

I have already printed my gate pass. Thus is a question for another mom who
Can't find her paper? Is the password the same for everyone who has
PIR 1/4/13?

Happy New Year to all of you and safe travels this week. Y'all are in for the best hug ever on Friday!!!

Comment by LoriK (Ship 02 Div 908) on December 31, 2012 at 6:59pm

We're leaving Weds morning also, from FL.  Making the trip with my son's 2 best friends.  It should be fun!  Praying for dry roads, clear skies and good cell phone service so we can get the call.

Comment by EagleMom2 on December 31, 2012 at 6:46pm

I too will be leaving on Wednesday and awaiting the call as we drive to Great Lakes. Prayers go out to everyone for safe travel. Pretty soon we get to see our kids. Yes adults to everyone else, kids to us moms :)

Has everyone printed their gate pass?  Here is the link if you have not.  Needed if you drive onto base.  Use your password (form letter) typed in ALL CAPS to access it:

clevelandmom:  You are very welcome!

Shelley:  We would love to have you join our team of N4Moms veterans to pass on your experiences to the other PIR groups!  That goes for any of you all.  They love hearing from the ones who are already through...with all of your hints.  Just remember that there usually is a PIR group every Friday so you can find them under GROUPS that way.  The current groups will also be posted often on Bootcamp Moms.

Safe travel for anyone leaving soon for PIR!

We are flying from Phoenix on 1/2...hoping for clear runways! Going early in case of weather delays and to be there nearby sending positive energy to our SR Ship 11 Div 48 and all the soon-to-be Sailors!
