N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

can anyone explain the meet and greet? Do we all meet somewhere?

Comment by Mom2Bella on November 24, 2013 at 9:12pm

For military families is there a lodge on the base to stay and if so is it close to where PIR will be held

Comment by diannep on November 24, 2013 at 8:05pm

Remember, ladies.  There are actually 2 shuttle services available for PIR:

Sarge's   847 212-0246 or email johnspadaro@att.net

or...

The local taxi service which operates as a shuttle service on PIR morning.
Both Sarge's and the local service charge $3/pp each way.

We stayed at Residence and enjoyed it!

Comment by diannep on November 24, 2013 at 7:47pm

tami:  Sarge's shuttle will pick up at most of the hotels in the area.

The following are the most popular hotels mentioned on here in the past:

Navy Lodge, Residence Inn, Courtyard Inn, Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express...all in the Waukegan/Gurnee area...Navy Lodge is only about a mile or so from RTC, and the others are 4-5 miles and are close to Sarge's MeetandGreet.

Wow! Thank you Nightmystic! I have stared at this so long that I missed that. LOL! Thank you so much for opening my eyes! It is so hard to decide.

Comment by tami0823 on November 24, 2013 at 6:02pm

I have looked at the where to stay link, but I am still having a very difficult time trying to decide where to make reservations. Does the Sarge shuttle go to all the hotels or is it only to certain ones? I am so confused. :) Anyone have any answers or suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Everyone, hope all had a great day! I think today's the saddest I've been since my son left. It's my mom's 84th birthday and she's in the hospital, (we did have cake and a lot of her family was there with her, which made her so happy,) but when she told me how much she misses and loves her grandson I almost lost it. Since I didn't get a phone call yesterday I was praying maybe he would call today while we were at the hospital and he could of talked with her, but I guess today wasn't his day to call :( maybe tomorrow. I am just so grateful to have all of you, who are going through the same emotional rollercoaster. I don't think a lot of my family and friends really get it. Hugs to all :) p.s.now that I kind of understand my way around the computer a little better LOL I'm going to try and send you guys my "friend requests"!

I was suprised to get the call yesterday, since it was just two weeks. At first it was amazing to hear his voice, but I will say I've felt a little down since because I think it just re-energized my worrying. It's comforting to see so many others are experiencing similar emotions. Like, not picking up any of the clothes left in his room, or making his unmade bed with his navy cap hanging on the edge. I just pray for his strength through this time, and for time to pass quickly to the PIR day. I do wonder about xmas, as some said they were able to visit their SR that day, but he did not mention anything about that in our call.
