N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

They are overloaded with shots when they arrive, and most will eventually get sick.  Luckily they recover but they can have some yucky days.  My take on it is that the influx of shots/meds compromises their immune systems temporarily and they are subject to getting sick from the many germs around with so many people in close quarters.  Plus they get the flu shot and sometimes people get sick from that.  In the past, some have even ended up in the hospital with pneumonia for a couple of days, but they still managed to graduate on time!

Hoping that those who are sick get well, and those who aren't sick won't get sick!  :-)

When they arrive at bootcamp and start processing, they are up for a long time...they don't sleep that first night in their racks.  Here is the Bootcamp Day by Day that explains it.

I asked my son about the flowers and yesssss!!! He order before left to the BC.
Thank you very much to everybody for lovely comments.
He says, the first day they didn't sleep for 45 hours. Almost all SRs became sick (cold) but him and others more didn't. They got many shots in the beginning.
They do not have time for almost nothing there beside his duties, they have to study too much (more than we thought) , but don't have time to study, they have to study when are eating, in the restroom (hahaha), etc. All SRs are in charge for something, like mail, kitchen area, etc etc
Somebody Could tell me more histories like my son told me?

He passed the swimming test.

Momma bear, I am praying for your son and the the another one too, I hope every thing will be good.

Have a good weekend!!!!!

Yessssss!!!!!! Me too, was a call day?, All SR have could call?, I am glad that my son insisted to call me, because my phone only ringed one time, but I had 2 missed calls from him, never ringed before the last one, after I finished with my son I called verizon and I think right now is fixed, I explained that I do not want a missed call or another kind of problems anymore, NOT NOW!!!!!!!

Momma Bear, I was really saddened to read your post.  Your son and the other person on medical hold are in my prayers for sure.  I guess we can be thankful that they are so very thorough when examining our SRs.  God Bless You.

I finally got my form letter yesterday from my son, confirming that he is on Ship 02 and Division 909.  I am wondering if any of you that received calls today from your children are in that division?

I got a call this morning from my son, still in shock. Sounded hoarse and tired, but it was amazing to hear his voice. He said he'd already received the first letter I sent, so glad to know that.

Hi all. Got a call from my so this morning, way before I expected one. He is on medical hold, they found a heart murmur, hi. And one other mate in his division. They both go to see a cardiologist Tuesday morning to see if fit for duty. If dr says no, he is discharged. So very sad for him and his friend that is going thru the same thing,. Asking for prayers for them both for a cleared medical appt. he is in ship 3 div 051. They are behind in bootcamp so if he is cleared he will likely not have PIR till end of January. He left 11/12/13
