N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

MusicalMom The WWII sailor is my grandfather in law. I am so glad you were able to get to speak with him. He is one of the most amazing men I have ever known and our son becoming a sailor has brought him so much joy! It was a proud day for our family!

Congratulations to all our sailors!

I wanted to say thank you to all of you who are helping us with this website. It has been extremely helpful to me. Thank you for all of your time, support, and dedication. I would have been lost without your information. It was because of you that I enjoyed PIR as much as I did!

To the moms/families that were there, thank you for your support, as well! What a life-changing experience it was! Thanks for the talks, hugs, and smiles. I am glad one of my new friends finally got her luggage. I am grateful I got to meet and hug the family who took in my son on Christmas.  I was impressed how nice everyone was at the Navy Lodge, both guests and staff. To the family with the great grandfather of WWII sailor, talking with him was the second high light of the trip, second to hugging my son. Truly an honor to talk with him. I hope everyone got home safely.

Lastly, I was proud how well most of us acted when we had to wait an unusually long time on the road to get into the gate on Friday morning.

Thank you, to those that manage this group, and to all the members. It has been so helpful to feel informed and knowledgeable, during this period my son was in boot camp. It also meant so much to hear from others who were experiencing such similar feeling, worries and concerns. Who else could really understand, but other moms and families going through the same thing. Thank you! I hugged my son so tight as I ran to him after his graduation. I am so proud!!

Wow, Florida girl.  How wonderful!  I know it made your daughter realize how much she is thought of and missed by her original division!  Kudos to that "higher up" who made her day!

Florida girl thank you for sharing! What an incredible story. Prayers for your daughter. I has amazed me to see the comradery that has been built between these men and women and also the random acts of kindness we witnessed this weekend.

Hi Friends!

"But also for this very reason, giving all diligence,

to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness,

FloridaGirl1972,

That was such a heartwarming thing to read about the respect and comaraderie she is shown by her fellow SRs/Sailors in division 057!  Your daughter will be a United States Sailor soon, you can be sure of that!!  Blessings to her and you~~

Congratulations to all of the new Sailors!! I have to say it was a bit bittersweet to know that my daughter should have graduated yesterday, however I continue to be proud of her and she is in good spirits. For those who don't know, she injured her achilies tendon and has been in RCU since 3-1. I came on here to let you know that she had a moment as they were preparing for PIR that just warmed my heart and brought tears to my eyes. (She called today so this is how I know!) She says that she knew her DIV (DIV 57) would be practicing right outside her building. She was on her way to PT and one of the Chiefs (or someone high up) saw her walking and immediately stopped the division, had them do an about face and recognize my daughter. They also sang a song to her, in unison (some sort of marching song they do) and all said farewell to her and wished her luck and a speedy recovery. She says that anytime she came across her fellow recruits, usually in chapel, they would always make it a point to come talk to her, ask her how she was doing, and never made her feel bad about what happened. In fact, they went out of their way to cheer her up and take her mind off things. She said after they all said farewell to her, she was in tears but was so proud. She also heard they won the Captain's Cup and she was proud of them. It makes me smile to know that these sailors really do take care of each other and they do get through it all! Thank you for letting me share. I just thought it was a really neat story to tell, especially since those of you with SRs in the integrated DIV 57 hold a special place in her heart :)
