Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just putting this idea out there for your group.  It is totally voluntary.  Some of our past PIR groups have gotten together and put together State themed gift baskets/boxes/bags or really, any great idea would work, to be raffled off at Sarge's Meet & Greet on the Thursday evening before PIR.  This is great fun and would help offset the costs of Sarge and his wife as they do these meet and greets every week to help our Navy families.  If someone would like to start a Basket Project for this group, please let Sarge know and start a discussion up in the Discussion Forum for the ladies here to pop into to express their interest~~  Thank you~

The SRs are issued a Recruit Cash Card when they arrive for their supplies at the NEX.  She may be concerned that she will run out of money on her cash card, so requested the debit card.  Not sure she would really need it unless she wants to pay for her pictures with it.  Up to you if you want to send it....she would be allowed to keep it...its just the danger of sending it in the mail.

Ldabdub . . . My daughter took her debit card with her. We read that they could purchase personal items along with stamps, calling cards, etc. at the Exchange. I'm sure one of our veteran moms will know about this for sure.

Good Morning!!

      "...Preserve sound judgment and discernment,

do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you,

an ornament to grace your neck.  Then you will go on your way to safety,

and your foot will not stumble, when you lie down,

you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet."

I finally got a letter from my SR! He said he got a job on Shipstaff
He said he works with other divisions to keep the ship running. He also says he brings in and receives the mail. He said their RDC has been withholding their mail privileges. I feel so much better hearing from
Him and knowing he is doing okay!

got a call from my SR today! I was driving when the call came in !! got to speak with her a full 20 min!! She got her wisdom teeth pulled the first week she was there, and she too is sick- But this time she sounded a lot more like herself! She got IT for leaving something out of place and now she is paying attention even to other recruits  (darn! I should have done that when she was at home!!)

She said  Div 910 is doing pretty good-good team work... :) Dress fitting was this week, she said the dress uniforms are gorgeous!

PoodleLady- I'm crossing my fingers for you, she will have other opportunities.

Bikerbabe55 . . .so glad to hear you received a phone call. It is always encouraging to know our SRs are calling because it means one of us could be next to hear from our kids!

My phone is glued to me!
