OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@Drewsmom... Will do ma'am.. I guarantee you hugs will abound here for sure. I will definitely pass along your words and give him an extra hug for you and the rest that are missing their SR's. This is one time where I truly believe that a hug or a word of encouragement can actually transcend time and distance because of it's purity and sincerity. As we have all experienced emotions in a way never before thought possible, when our kids go off to the Navy or any branch for that matter, we find that the power and frequency of emotion is unbelievable and so hard to deal with. This is something I would not wish on anyone. I have never been this confused or never ever had such a hard time processing information as fast or slow as it comes in or does not come in. It really boggles the mind and imagination. I found out all to soon how fast I became a babbling idiot.

@Lola... Thank you for your prayers and ours go out to you and all the other parents who have kids in BC and or are currently serving.

My heartfelt condolences go out to you and the family at the loss of you husband your kids father. I lost my dad when i was nine, so my mom was in your shoes as well and I understand what you speak of with regards to the emotional roller coaster trying to be both Mom and Dad. You ma'am, are a true warrior, in the strongest sense of the word. No one knows where you have walked unless they have the same set of shoes. Be blessed as well Lola.

so glad to hear his spirits are up, Tx! Sounds like this has been a very good opportunity for him to reevaluate what he really wants to do. Hey, when he gets home give him a hug on bahalf of all of us who will be missing our SRs :) He was on the same ship/div as my son so it will make me feel batter in some strange way, lol!

FTLW... Thanks for the kind words. My wife and I have breathed a collective HUGE sigh of relief after chatting with our son today. It appears that there are allot of SR's on Ship 5 from different ships and divisions, from various jobs. He didn't say how many were from his previous ship (13/DIV 068), but that most seemed in good spirits. Some were pretty wiped out, some had attitudes and some, well, neither here nor there, just kinda zombied out. I can understand how there is such a wide range of emotions in ship 5... but the SR's have each other to lean on, talk to, joke with and so on. I'm sure there will be some life long friendships built there. FTLW, thanks for all you and the vets and other families do here. It is priceless and the support is rock solid and sincere. THAT you don't find that often. Thank you and to everyone again. Bravo Zulu!!

Lola... I have NEVER kept my phone this close to me ever, until now. Its crazy... where I go it goes... EVERYWHERE!! LOL... anyway, the first call I received from my son after getting to BC, was to tell me he was coming home... BUT... it so good to hear his voice even if it was to deliver that crushing blow, BUT at the same time it wasn't as crushing cuz HE'S COMIN HOME BABY!!. I wish your son all the luck and that he passes everything with flying colors. It sounds like your son is as close to his sister as my son is to his. My son and daughter are almost attached at the hip. He decided one year that HE was going to take his sister on vacation. Ok, I said.. cool. Where to? London and Paris he said. All she has to do is save her spending money and i've got the rest.

Well alrighty then!! Off they went.

TxNavyDad - That is GREAT news!

I am sorry I have not been able to post but have been reading...I am late but wanted to express how sorry I am to hear what is happening to your son (and apparantly others).

I am very glad you have stayed on the site to continue to get support! Please keep letting us know how your son and your family are doing while you go through this.

Blessings to you!

It is so good you got to chat with him TvNavyDad. I know it makes you breathe a lot easier :) Did he say how many are there with him who also have to come home?

Leisure-Ley, that is awesome that you and Betsy both have sons on the same ship. After two and a half years I have looked and looked for any moms who have sons or daughters who know my daughter and have had no luck. Of course I have found many who have someone on her ship but there are soooooo many on an aircraft carrier and none of them knew her so far lol.

I survived kindergaten today, it wasn't easy with the teacher assistant out sick as well. I am pooped lol

@Lola... Well... yes and no. He told me that he now knows he REALLY has allot going for him here at home but has not dismissed the idea of the Navy either. I told him that his mother and I would not try to sway him in either direction about the navy, as that was his decision and we would support him and be there for him if he wanted to talk about it, ask questions and or ask for council on it. That seemed to relieve him allot. I guess he was worried we were going to take a "side" and push, but I assured him that would not happen.

UPDATE: Got to talk to my son on Facebook private messages today for about 20 mins. It seems they have a few computers, video games and vending machines in the lounge where they get to go once or twice a day, depending on whether or not someones messes up and gets privileges removed like TV and internet. My son is doing fine, THANK YOU GOD!! and to all of you who have kept my son and our family in your prayers. It has worked. Anyway, he still is in the dark about why they moved him to Ship 5 other than a paperwork snafu and that he WOULD get a good reenlistment code so he could reenlist if he chose to. He said he should be meeting with legal next week to get the final options and why he was moved to ship5. He said he should be home for Christmas!!

YA BABY!!! THE BESTEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVA!!! YE HAW!!!

Ahem... lost it there for a bit... LOL... anyway, I will update with more as I said would. This really didn't update much other than I finally got to talk (or type) with my son and find out he really is. Even thru typing, you can still tell if someone is trying to smoke you, but he's not so am VERY relieved. He's getting to read allot, which he loves to do and said he needs another book, so he's looking forward to the next trip to the NEX to get another book.

Ok... enuff for now ya'll... I'm writing a small book here.. sorry.. just very excited and glad my SR is doing OK and he CAN'T wait to get home. ME EITHER!!

YE HAW!!... Crap did it again... sorry... Anyway, I will update any new info as it comes along... Thanks again to everyone... You all are truly a caring family.
