~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

What is the Meet and Greet for? Do we get to see our SR before PIR? Maybe I missed it but those of you who are getting letters what is their PIR? I am feeling much better today. Gonna make hotel arrangements today. To those of you who are praying people please keep us in your prayers too. We are driving to GL from NM. The only way we can afford for us to go. Not so concerned about weather when we get there, but the weather on the way there. Sure don't want to miss it because we get stuck somewhere in the middle. Thanks
@Betsy mom of Stennis- Not only do I have a son in this PIR I have a son on the Stennis too! Hiiiii !
marmayes, Welcome back. My son is on CVN 74 in the Arabian Sea right now.
My daughter is Ship 12/Div 062 - anyone else out there? Got my "kid in a box" and my form letter, but no letters from my daughter yet. Am hopeful again today!! This is my second time around - my son was a Nuke and is now on USS CVN70. Looking forward to your replies and meeting you in GL on 1/18/2013.
Tx, there must be some serious story behind this... that just doesn't make sense. I've heard though that there is something like a 4 year waiting list to get into the chair force, so maybe there is something to the idea that too many people signed up?
@Drewsmom... That's another thing that doesn't make sense... my son also went in as an E3 because of all his college... Then upon completion of A school at DLI, he was to be promoted to E4...
Thanks Lala, that's good to know. She's very smart and is going in as an E3 (because, as I understand, of her college degree), so if studying hard will help her be near my son, I think we're ok :)
Whew, Tx, what a strange thing, I sure hope you get some clarity soon!
@diannep... No... nothing new. However, I did visit my sons recruiter yesterday. When I told him what happened he couldn't believe it. I asked if he had any info about him being sent home and he said he didn't. We talked over different scenarios and possibilities that maybe could have contributed to his sep, but all came up negative. His recruiter said he was going to contact HIS supervisor and start digging and try to find out what happened and then let me know either way. We are blessed that my sons recruiter is a very helpful sailor. He was really taken aback at the news. I'll update as soon as I hear anything. Thanks so much for your concern.
TxNavyDad: Any more news on what is happening with your SR and the others?
