Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I will tell you if they are married before she leaves for boot camp they have a much better chance of being based close to each other. If they are both in the Navy when they get married it could be a year or two after A-school before they are even close. Even then they are not guaranteed to be closer than a couple hundred miles. It helps to study very hard in A-school and get first pick from available bases. Then they have a good chance of being able to both get in an area that has several bases like VA Beach. How long after he gets out of boot camp before she goes to boot camp? I am sure my daughter would talk to her and explain a lot of this if you would to private message me her number and I will ask my daughter to call her.

I have a feeling that there will be many more letters received tomorrow and probably Friday too!  Congrats on the letters received today!

Update: I just checked on plane flights this evening and they have gone up $20.00 from yesterday. Uggh!! I need to book it tonight I know it's early but I can't afford to let it go any higher. I can't do Southwest cause there latest flight out sat is 2:40pm and that's not late enough on sat when my daughter will be at the airport. So I'm gonna have faith that all goes well with no setbacks I have confidence in her. I guess flights go up on Wednesdays. FYI Moms.

I think the plan is to get married when they are both at A school, since they are both going into the same program. But, if it means a better chance of being together, well I just don't know (hey, I'm just his mom, why would I know anything LOL!!) Ugh, 4 days before boot camp? Must have been a tough 2 months!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 5, 2012 at 7:28pm

That's awesome, they basically give them a job with their command that is safe for them to do, maybe pushing papers lol. We shall see. From what I have been told they do not deploy females who are pregnant and they won't deploy for the first year after the baby is born. Her ship will be deployed soon so she will miss this deployment. She was only home from the ship for a week before she left with her squadron for more training. I guess a week is all it took lol. Is you son getting married before his fiance goes to boot camp? Mine got married while she was in A-school 4 days before he went to boot camp so that they had a better chance of being stationed near each other.

Comment by D'sMomMary on December 5, 2012 at 6:44pm

wow, congratulations lala! I've wondered how that works, since my son is engaged to someone who also will be in the Navy soon,  and they will both be in for 6 years. I suppose that's a discussion for another time :)
