Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Congratulations to those that got letters!!! How exciting!  It will be interesting to see if my son actually hand writes a letter to me.  Not that he doesn't want to talk to me but he is more of an email typer then pen/paper writer.  He dreaded having to hand write notes in his college classes.

Congratulations Johnsmom and Obnoxred1!  I'm jealous. :) I was just whining on facebook that it was taking forever to get a letter from my son.  Here's to hoping that a lot of others got letters today and the rest of us get letters very soon.

Happy dance! We got 3 letters from my daughter today! She didn't date them but the first was on Thanksgiving and the other two were after. It was so awesome!!

"Peanut Butter" shot = OUCH!  My son had told me that they lean over a table, one SR on each side facing each other, and it is jabbed in there.  They have to "roll on their cheek" for a while afterwards to try and disperse the thick stuff....my son has never been one to mind shots so he never mentioned it to me when he was up at bootcamp.  But when I asked him about after seeing some complain, he told me the gory details. ..

Yes!  Lala, I did see that!  Woohoo!  That is so incredibly awesome and what a blessing for your family!  So sorry about the morning sickness.  :(

You are very welcome :) Happy to help in any way I can.

Betsy, glad you are back, sorry about your laptop; that stinks!!! Did you read my news? My Sailor is having a baby :D Super excited about it but oh man she is really sick with morning sickness all day long. Hopefully that won't last long.

Obnoxred1 - thanks for the clarification.  Everything else I'd seen has referenced the PB shot as Penicillin

@ Lala Ribbon Queen......Thanks so much for all the information you have given me...Very interesting and i am grateful to have you to help me understand what my daughter will be doing in the Navy.  Very cool....  I tried to join the Navy back in the days but my hearing was bad so i am living it thur my daughter and it is all so very exciting to me plus my dad was a WWII veteran in the Navy as well.  So i will defintely ask you questions and again thanks so much for everything.
