N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Well the good thing is it usually only takes about two weeks to get the paper work done and have them on their way when they are sent home for other reasons. And one would think if they were going to keep them longer than that they may as well let them finish boot camp. They are already feeding them and paying them so it makes sense to me. I am betting he will be home in time for Christmas :)

I also realized I didn't even introduce myself to you all lol. I just jumped right in and got busy helping out. I will post that in just a few.

@Lala... Thanks Lala... I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear "WAZZUP?!?!?"

It can't be anything bad, because my son said he could reenlist and had a 6 month window in which to do it. So ya... I'm very eager to hear the reason why he is going to be sent home. I hope they can get him here by Christmas.

THAT would be awesome!!

Thanks again for your concern.

SouthCarolinaProud, I am not far from you at all :) I am in Brevard, NC.

TxNavyDad, I really hope you get some good news very soon and they realize they want these Sailors to stay. So sad what they are putting these recruits through.

My son signed up as a nuke.  We sent him with an address book that included 1/2 dozen names, and phone numbers of people he could use as a reference.  He also took sealed copies of his high school and college transcripts.

BrinsMom, I got the same call last friday, it is def. for the security clearance.  I could tell that someone was standing by her for half of the call, and thankfully whom ever it was walked away and allowed her to speak freely to me for another 10 minutes (god bless that man)  no worries, just send over the infor that she requested

Comment by TxNavyDad on December 4, 2012 at 7:46pm

@Brinsmom... Ya that's probably the call for her security clearance. i wouldn't fret over that one. She hasn't been moved to Ship 5 has she?

Comment by BTsmom on December 4, 2012 at 7:42pm

@TxNavyDad that would be ship 14 Div 066.

SouthCarolinaProud:  See my post below yours about the dress for PIR.  And, yes!  Bring your camera!  No problem with filming or shooting piks during the ceremony.

Yes, just go to that division shirt website and there will be instructions on there for you.

Brinsmom:  Sounds like yours was a security call?  They do those alot...depending on the level of security clearance that your daughter's navy "job" requires.  I don't think your daughter's call was the same type as TxNavyDad's call where his son said he is being separated.  Hoping that he has some answers very soon....what a horrible situation to be in, not knowing....
