~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@TxNavyDad, my daughter is in your son's brother division. I got a very disturbing phone call today from her. She said she was fine but needed employment, reference, & residence info. I strongly wonder if that isn't what all this is about. She said I had until Sun. to get the info to them. I agree. Fix the paperwork & move on. Don't make these poor kids go through this emotional turmoil all over again. The recruiter was of no help to us.
TxNavyDad: Go to this group and ask some questions on there. This is the "separation" ship and there may be someone on there who knows what that code means. I have had no luck on the internet finding out what it means. Here's the link:
Lola: You will see all types of dress at PIR, but what is recommended is "dressy or business casual." Your sailors will be in their "Navy finest" so keep that in mind. It will also be COLD w/snow most likely, and there is some walking involved to get to PIR Hall, so dressing in layers (to protect from the bitter "lake" wind that will go right through you!) and comfortable shoes/boots are a must. We were there in Feb the yr my son graduated. It was in the 20's during the day. Didn't matter to some who were there....one guy had on frayed cut-off jeans and a tank top, with flip flops. Yep! I guess he thought he was at the beach! Now, I'm a S. Floridian so am used to that type of dress, but not for PIR. :-)
beewoman: They usually leave out on Saturday...sometimes Sunday....doubftful it would be Monday since that is Martin Luther King Day so travel may be heavy. They have to book flights when they can get them all together. Unless there are unusual circumstances to keep them there until Monday????
SouthCarolinaProud: The division tshirts are designed by the SRs in that division. so they are a keepsake. Sometimes the SRs order them for family members as a surprise. I knew that mine wouldn't when he was there, so I ordered some myself. Here is the website if you would like to order them:
I think you have a "plan" for heading back home once you spend time with your new sailor!
hm, I managed to find the information to contact my son's recruiter and even he had no idea about what might be going on. What an emotional rollercoaster for these kids and their families :(
VicPat: Welcome! And thank you for your service to your country and now your SR's future service! There will be discussion groups opened on this page soon up above....where you can visit with others in your division/brother division. In the meantime, feel free to friend request others in your division and private message if you like. Just click on that person's picture of screen name and select "Add as friend" on the left side of their page. They will have to accept your friend request before you can message.
txdylansmom: They can actually fly out any time that day. But they are all bussed from RTC in the wee hours of the morning to wait for these flights in the USO at the airport. That is when you can go meet them there and wait with them, even getting a gate pass to wait for their plane to leave (have ID). If you are looking for when to book your return flight, is there any way you can stay until Sunday? That is what we did. Sometimes flight times can change and you don't want to miss any time with your new sailor.
TxNavyDad: 100+ are being sent home???? Already? Wow! I'm not sure what that means, ADMIN PW, but I have a suggestion. Go to the MEMBERS tab at the top of the page. Put in Craig and select Craig in Aurora CO. He is retired NAVY with a son/nephew in now....and is one of our N4Moms veterans on here. A great help. Send him a friend request with a short message about what is going on. Hopefully he can give you more info. I'm so sorry about this...the re enlistment code that he gets is crucial...so that is why I hope you get in touch with Craig.
TX DAD, our recruiter told us that they (the recruiter's office) would be called if the SR was being sent back. They should know something. You might want to try and give them a call for a little more understanding. So sorry to hear the news. Makes us all on edge for sure. God Bless you all.
@pmg... Nothing new yet. Still waiting to hear from our son again. I have not tried his recruiter yet, but the thought had crossed my mind. I'm not sure if he would have more info than what we already have. As soon as I hear something, I will update.
@Drewsmom... Lady, I thought I had a handle on this emotion thing going thru him leaving and all. NOW? I've never been this confused, not knowing which way to turn, not knowing what to do or say. I guess God is pushing the "Trust Me" button extra hard. Maybe it's about time I did. Thanks for your concern.
