N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

...it's really bad when someone wants Army to "BEAN TAVY."  Just not right....  :-)

Hi ladies late to this party sorry. Taking care of a brother who just had heart surgery then it was right into decorating the church for Christmas.

My sons PIR was in April and he is now at school in GL and ready to comp out of A School right before stand down. Originally the last day of class for him would have been the 22nd which meant back to A School in January, but they have fast tracked them to finish early.

You are all in for a ride, hang on and hang in "no news is good news".

Craig, Yes one week! Go Navy! Beaa Trmy! Rolling laughter

Thanks much Dianne for the welcome. I hate to admit it, but yes ma'am... you have allot more info here then at the "other" site. They have good info as well, just not as in depth as the ladies. I guess that's why the adage of "Behind every great man is an even greater woman" holds to be so true! I know that without my wife, the true better half, I, well, really don't have it goin at all.

Bravo Zulu Ladies!! Without you, us "Tough Guys", aren't so tough after all. However very few guys will ever admit that.

We are pretty sure our son will remain in GL for A School.  I'm not sure how to plan  our time with him.  I want to stay as long as I can see him.  Any suggestions?

Comment by diannep on December 2, 2012 at 8:20pm

Lola is correct on the Liberty after PIR.  Those staying in GL for A School will move over there shortly after PIR.  Takes 2-3 hours to move (they are bussed from RTC) and then they can call you to pick them up...make sure they have a phone card with them....they can return from Liberty with their cellphones.  If they happen to have "watch", you may not be able to pick them up until a little later.  They have to be back on base each night...but usually not until around 10 pm (they will be well informed of this).  Since Monday is a holiday, you probably will get some time then with them also.  I would plan on that when booking your return flight.  And remember, everyone....flights can change.  FTLW will tell you that her son had that happen when he was there.  So try and stay until Sunday or Monday if possible, just in case.  You can always sightsee if your sailor leaves!

For those flying out for A School, it probably will be Saturday.  You can meet them at the airport, obtain a gate pass, and wait at the gate with them until they leave.  It is quite a sight to see all of the sailors at the Chicago airports!  Usually when it is announced for them to board, they get a standing ovation from all at the gates nearby!

Welcome TxNavyDad:  We love having you men in our groups...and encourage you to take our great info back to Navy Dads every now and then!  :-)  We get men in our groups sometimes because....ahem...we have been told that we have way more info here!  HOOYAH!

Hey!  And it is so great that you are in touch with your "emotions" because the emotional rollercoaster has just begun for you!  But...that is what this group is for.  We are all here for you!  We N4Moms veterans have all been through this...so we can give you a "pat on the back" when need be...we know the wonderful "gift" that awaits you on 01/18.  It is truly phenomenal!  So focus "on the prize", keep sending encouraging letters to your SR (once you get that form letter address), and know that by training week 4 (which is about bootcamp week 5 or so) things get much better for the SRs.  That is the turning point!

Glad you found us!  Take a look at the PAGES section above and to the right under the MEMBERS box for some good info.  FTLW will be posting more info as bootcamp progresses.  We don't want to overwhelm anyone right now!

Hoping that form letters for those still waiting for them arrive this week!
