~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Does anyone know if there will be extended time to spend with your Sailor after PIR on the 18th since Monday is a federal holiday (Martin Luther King Jr Day)? Will they still leave for A school on Saturday the 19th?
Hello Ladies!! ya I know Navy Moms... but hey.. we are a Navy family right? Well alrighty then... Well, I'm in the same boat as Leslie...our son got to GL on Nov. 20th, we received his box Tues the 27th, and of course, no letter. Based on the calculations, I'm like Leslie, thinking his PIR date is the 18th. SO... hopefully this coming Monday or Tuesday we will get his letter and know for sure. We have already booked our hotel, so (fingers crossed) we were correct on the date. So proud of our SR... words cannot express how proud. One thing I can honestly say is... (letting down my manhood here) Holy Crap!! I never experienced this much emotion as often as I do... Like a rock... ya right...
I got another phone call last night, (9pm) only two minutes this time she needed to follow up on the info that I need to send to RTC, but it was great to hear from her
To add to what FTLW said about bootcamp weeks:
The really important weeks are the "training" weeks. There are 6 of those, numbered 1-5 in the day count (weekends are "hold" days). They are sailors after completing Battlestations at the end of training week 6. This will be a different "count" than bootcamp weeks since bootcamp weeks included processing days before training started.
The first divisions to do BattleStations usually go towards the end of the week before PIR week. So they will have a week of low key days (still structured, but not like training) including PIR practice before graduation. Other divisions will do BattleStations during PIR week, and some may finish training just a day or two before PIR.
Sometimes people get confused with the bootcamp week count and the training week count. Just wanted to be clear on that. This PIR Group should have just started training week #1 or be starting it next week. They will all be within a couple of days in each other training schedules.
Since this group included Thanksgiving, and will include Christmas and New Years Day, that will make it a little longer than most groups. My son was up there at this time 3 years ago. From the time he arrived until his PIR day was to be a little over 9 weeks (3 days over)--he arrived Nov 23 and was to PIR on 01/29.. This was because on the holidays, their training is on hold. But he was setback for a week, so he actually was there over 10 weeks.
No worries....they still PIR on time even with the holidays....they factored this into the PIR date.
Welcome, Leisure-Ley....for the 2nd round! I'm sure you can help us other N4Moms veterans with questions that the newbies have on here. Glad you are here!
HI everyone, My son arrived at GL on 11/20, I havent received the form letter yet and I havent been able to get info from the recruitor. However based on what i'm reading on the wonderful N4M site i'm confident this is his PIR group! This is my 2nd son this year entering the Navy. It doesnt really get easier the second time around...especially when its around the holidays.
Here is much more info about the 900 Divisions by lemonelephant:
By her calculations...910 should be "Ship Staff/Honor Guard".
Here is the Link to Naval Service Training Command photos of Night of Arrival for this TG (gentle reminder...please don't name your recruit specifically by last name):
ADDED a couple of new PAGES for you (as well as a repost of the N4M's Community Guidelines one):
Just to reiterate about the Access List for PIR:
~RTC has stated that it is against RTC Policy to add your guests to other recruits Access List. You won't find it posted on any of the official pages but they did post it in a reply on their FB page. Here is a link to a post I did about it:
Adding Guests to another Recruits Access List - Against RTC Policy
Waiting area for those not on the Access List.
~I emailed RTC PAO (Public Affairs Office) and the response I had was that they would like those not on the Access List to wait off base at their hotels (or whatever your Family decides on).
The reason I emailed was that when this was first implemented back in October we have heard many different scenarios. Such as:
Extras were sent back to their cars, told they could go to the NEX or food court (when it opened at 10 AM) and allowed to wait in the Visitors Center.
So I thought...well, what if you did not HAVE a car (you took a shuttle)?
I know the NEX is not huge and neither is the Food Court (Recruit/Ricky [slang for recruit] Heaven)...how would it fit all those extras? Not good for security either.
As well as the VC. Would they want all those people in there?
So, while I knew it would be a chance of getting a negative answer, I wanted something clear for you so you can plan accordingly.
