OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

We will be heading to VA to see our Sailors and grand baby on Thursday. Our Navy Mom facebook group has a huge Christmas project with the help of all our family and friends :) We have been collecting gifts for 300+ kids who have a parent deployed on the Harry S Truman aircraft carrier. Friday we will be shopping for more gifts with money & gift cards people have donated then on Saturday we will be having a wrapping party to wrap the gifts and then delivering the toys/gifts to the kids at their Christmas party on Sunday. It has been so much fun collecting gifts and participating in this project. It's just a bonus that we get to see our Sailors and baby Eastyn and stay with them while we are there. I can't wait to see the faces on these kids when they receive the gifts. i know it is so hard on them to have a parent deployed at Christmas. Many of them are just too young to understand. I know of my friends on this site are also friends and part of my facebook group and we truly appreciate everyone who has helped with this project :) Thanks very much!!!!

Good morning everyone, I agree, I think in many ways it is harder for the families left behind because we are left without knowing what is going on and that makes our minds wonder and sometimes makes us think of what could be going wrong and fills us with worry. For the recruits they know what they are going through at every moment and they pretty much know our routines so they are not left wondering what we are doing. You will be amazed at how much you learn from this site and believe me your recruits will be amazed at what you learn as well :)

There is a livestream service of the PIRs.  I posted the links under the "pages" section (if one doesn't work, the other one should...sometimes those on IPads had problems accessing one of the links).  Sadly, it was not working this past Friday for that PIR and I know of one other PIR that happened to.  Hoping they get the glitches out in the future so that those unable to attend PIR will be able to participate by watching the Livestream!

Good Morning everyone!  I am one of the N4Moms veterans on here to help you through bootcamp!  Please read the info that ellen posted in the "pages" section above and to the right, under the MEMBERS photo section.  Lots of info there!  If you have questions after reading through that, please post them here!  ellen, Lala, CatMom or I will be happy to try and answer any and all questions, and we don't mind at all answering them many times!  We want this journey to be as comfortable for you as possible!

Welcome to Navy Bootcamp and congrats to your SRs!  It is not an easy task to get into the Navy these days...your SRs are the chosen ones!  :-)

Lloyd:  We always enjoy having former military members on here!  We get lots of info from people like you!  Congrats on now having a child in the Navy!  And thank you for your service to our country!

FC stands for Fire Controlman. They operate weapon systems. IT is the computer side of it. He will go to FC a-school for two months and then go to IT C-school for seven months. He will be at Great Lakes for a total of eleven months.

Lloyd,

Oh, the Navy sure blessed you with your wife and now, wow, 5 children!!  That's got to be the best thing for you.  What is FC?  Interesting that IT would be secondary to that~~  You must be proud he followed your footsteps into the Navy~~

Soooo happy we will get to see her this Christmas, only got 1 week left to wait!!
