Mindy:  Mine didn't want us at his swearing in either...the first one when he first enlisted, nor the 2nd one when he actually left for bc.  Sigh...I think it also had to do with his independence feeling...he was 22/23 at the time and didn't want "mom" hanging around as he planned his life!  But I wish he had allowed us to go as I would have loved to have seen it.

As it was, my parents and I dropped him off at the hotel the night before he left for bc (to meet up with his recruiter) and he wouldn't even allow us to come in to meet the recruiter.  Said this was "his deal" and didn't want us involved.  Sigh...growing up, I guess...but like I said, I wish I had been allowed to observe more of it!

Anita:  Blessings to all of you as you continue your life journey with your son.  Sure hope that his dad/he can be there to watch the division graduate...know it won't be easy for your son, but he has made some good buddies there who he wants to support.  God Bless Him for that!

Anita- I hope everything works out for your son, I know both of you have been through a heartbreaking ordeal, but God must really have special plans for him :)

Anita, wow your son is very impressive. His strength and maturity must have been modeled by you, so great job mom.

Thanks Anita for making me cry infront of my students....lol! No really that is awesome of him for wanting to be there to support his fellow recruits and that is awesome of his dad for thinking of it.

Hello again everyone! I see you are all doing well. Great to hear! I got a call from my son today. He has an appointment with legal in 30 minutes & will hopefully get more info as to when he will be home. I really appreciate all the thoughts & prayers being sent our way. He's going to be perfectly fine just needs a little time to heal emotionally although I've already seen a difference in him. I just wanted to brag for a second. :) His dad plans on still going to GL the weekend of PIR since we all had tickets anyway (my husband & I will not be going though). His dad is buying our son a ticket & a bunch of them will travel together. I asked my son today if he could handle seeing all the sailors he would have PIR'd with & he said he's thought about that & decided he'd love to see his buddies so he could congratulate them!!! That makes me do very proud! I know first hand he's made a positive impact on a couple of the SR's in 7/51 & that makes me glow. Thank you all again for the positive support! I will be thinking of you all from here on out! Please thank all your SR's for me and those in 7/51, know that my SR appreciates the support he's gotten as well! Anita

Mindy... I certainly understand your son's thinking as our son had completed all of the tasks before he even told us he had joined.  I did not mean to offend you at all as I could tell many of the kids there looked very independent; goodness they would have to be to join the military.

Pray for me, still waiting to get $ for a hotel room while I am there....I have not been able to send out for my ribbon either but it will happen soon enough.  God is always on time.  I know that many rooms are taken but I also know that I am going alone, so all I need is a simple room.  I have learned the Tram and bus schedules, so no car necessary.  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

Oh navywife11...you and hubby are getting a taste of military life very early on! I know it's rough...great attitude though! I know what you are feeling...enjoy the day!
