~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by kathybship02div913 on December 29, 2012 at 6:07pm

Yes. That is the way I addressed mine-my son is in the same division. Maybe got lost in mail?

Comment by KYKathryn Ship2Div913 on December 29, 2012 at 6:05pm

Blergh -- correction already --

60088-7105 is on his letter, 60088-3156 is from the bootcamp website.  GAH

Ok, I know this is covered repeatedly but I'm so paranoid, I need confirmation!  I did not receive his Form Letter and what he sent me does not agree with what is listed on here.  Please let me know if this is the correct way to address the letter:

SR LastName, FirstName MiddleInitial

USS Reuben James Ship 2 Div 913

Great Lakes, IL 60088-3156

LadyHawk:  I think most divisions here are finishing up training Week 1, with some having just started training week 2.  They are "losing" some days in training due to the holidays.  Backs them up a little bit.  But they get it all done!

Arwen, thank you for the detailed info on the Starboard Watch Section Leader! It is very much appreciated :)
Hope everyone gets their letters today!!!!
Comment by Craig on December 29, 2012 at 3:14pm
LadyHawk - from my understanding they were on extended "p" days, so I'd think they'd still going into there second week now. Make dang sure you ask your sailor what day they're on, then you'll know exactly (with in a day) of what they are doing. It's actually fun to track them, then when you get a letter you think to yourself "I knew that" ~ha. Moms intel is way much better than their sailors at this point... You are the armchair Admirals now ~ha
Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on December 29, 2012 at 3:12pm

It's pretty common for the divisions to be having trouble coming together in the beginning.  Pretty soon your SR's will start seeing a big difference in how they are working together as a team.  No worries, ladies, it will happen!  You will be so impressed with the progress they will make in just 7-8 short weeks.  It will be so beautiful.  Just keep the faith and keep your letters encouraging.  They will be noticing a change in the SR's who aren't stepping up as well.  Try to remember that by the time you get your letters, at least 3 to 5 days have passed.  It could be that in those few days, things have changed a lot and for the better.  :)
