N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am so happy.  I just received by beautiful boot camp coin for my sons graduation. It is so detailed and the picture doesn't do it justice.  I am so happy....  I got it at pirgifts.com and it was only $18.95.  They have all the ships.

Good afternoon, everyone!

I've been spending well needed time with the family this last week.  My youngest daughter is home from college for a few weeks (she attends Univ. of NM and we live in MD) so we have been shopping, visiting relatives and just catching up.   We also had our oldest daughter and our grandchildren here for a couple of days.  Next week my middle daughter will be in town from CO.  :)

My sailor (our youngest of our 5) spent his Christmas time in Dubai!  He is on the only aircraft carrier which is currently deployed.  He said that he has a blast, while there.  So far, since his deployment began in August, he has had port calls in  Malaysia, Thailand and Dubai (United Arab Emirates).  He has ridden two elephants and a camel, snorkeled in Thailand and been on a sunrise safari.  He said that the coolest thing was that he got to hold a falcon.  Although I missed him terribly, as this is his first Christmas away from home, I am so happy that his port calls have been very welcomed and a lot of fun for them.  These are just some of the cool things that your soon-to-be sailors will be doing once their boot camp and training are over.  Of course they obviously work very hard while on deployment, but it's so good to know that they are able to have some time to relax, enjoy themselves and make some once in a lifetime memories as well.    :)

I GOT A LETTER!!!! It was really funny but I could tell the first 2 weeks have been hard. He said he is looking forward to BC being over. HA! He commented that it isn't hard to follow directions & keep your mouth shut but I think his Division is having issues with that. He says he misses hearing news (said the only news of the outside world was Sandy Hook) & he really misses hearing music. That really struck me as interesting. Something we take for granted. He said the food is good & February 8th can't come soon enough. Oh & please send letters! So Moms: write some more. Your SR wants letters! :)

Kanesmom,

God bless you and your family...

For twenty six years
This sailor has stood the watch
While some of us were in our bunks at night

This sailor stood the watch
While some of us were in school learning our trade
This shipmate stood the watch
Yes… even before some of us were born into this world

This shipmate stood the watch
In those years when the storm clouds of war were seen
brewing on the horizon of history
This shipmate stood the watch

Many times he would cast an eye ashore
and see his family standing there
Needing his guidance and help
Needing that hand to hold during those hard times
But he still stood the watch

He stood the watch for twenty six years
He stood the watch so that we, our families and
Our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety,
Each and every night

Knowing that a sailor stood the watch
Today we are here to say
'Shipmate... the watch stands relieved
Relieved by those You have trained, guided, and led...
Shipmate you stand relieved… we have the watch...
"Boatswain...Standby to pipe the side...Shipmate going Ashore..."

Fair winds and following seas shipmate....
