~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks so much K's mom :) I know you will love your ribbons!
Kanesmom, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I know that must have been very hard with your son away. My children are very close with their grandparents as well and I completely understand how close your son was to his grandfather. I am so glad that his division wrapped their arms and hearts around him when he needed them most. My thoughts and prayers are will all of you. I know your son has a very special angel watching over him now. This is one huge Navy family and I am very happy and proud to be a part of it as a Navy Mom. Thank you and you mom as well for the service your dad and family has provided to our country. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
Kansmom - I am so sorry to hear about your loss and especially at this time for your son....tears, tears, tears!! but it was comforting to know that your son's division was there for him. It brought some comfort to me having my son away at this time. My son's stationed on Ship 14 Div 97. This is all new to me so THANK YOU for sharing and again my prayers are with your family and especially your son that God may give him all the comfort he needs at this time.
Thanks for sharing your story Kanesmom...so sorry for your loss. My son is with your son in Div 096. I feel very proud today...Thank you!!!
Prayers to you and your family Kanesmom. Your SR will have an even stronger motivation. You father obviously was a special man.
Kanesmom - I just read your post - I am in tears! Thank you for sharing with us! What a Blessing to see how our Navy family comforted your son when you couldn't. I will be praying for your family to get through the grief you are all feeling. Sending love your way! <3
I just ordered my Ribbons! So excited :D
Hi everyone, this is the first time that I’ve posted to this group, it’s been a crazy few weeks here. I wanted to share something with the parents of ship13div096. My father passed away on Dec 14th, yep two days after I sent my only son to Great Lakes. My father was retired Navy (Senior Chief, 26years), and IS the reason that my son is a SR right now. As a divorced parent, my parents babysat my son for too many years to count. My dad was a role model throughout my son’s young life – he is the reason that my son became and Eagle Scout, and as I mentioned he is the reason my son joined the Navy. My son always wanted to make his grandpa proud (he never understood that my dad was proud of him since he took his first breath). I wasn’t planning on telling my son of my dad’s passing, I was pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to come home for the services, and I didn’t need him worrying about Grandma while he should be focused on the job at hand. However, as I called my dad’s Navy buddies all around the country they all strongly urged me to contact the Red Cross, and try to get my son home. Finally, I decided to give it a try. The Chaplin for the div is the one that told my son the news. You can’t imagine what it was like to receive that call from my son, he was sobbing uncontrollably and there was nothing I could do, physically, to comfort him. The Chaplin strongly urged that my son be granted emergency leave – it was granted. However, the reason I am telling you this is because I want you to know what your family members did next. After Taps was played that evening, the Petty Officers and Chief in charge of Div 96 asked my son to tell everyone what was going on. My son explained what happened and how close he and his grandfather were. Your children, prayed for my son, they hugged my son, and comforted him when I could not. My son (and my family), will never forget what those young men did to and for my son. You should ALL be so proud of the young men that you raised, I know I am proud of them all. My son said that it felt like he had 80 new friends that evening, and he couldn’t believe how much they cared for him. I said no, you don’t have 80 new friends; you have 80 new family members. After 26 years, my dad still kept in touch with so many of the people he served with over the years and considered them all part of him family. Only a few days into the Navy, and my son has already learned that lesson…he now has a much larger family….the US Navy.
Lala - sounds like your Christmas was amazing! So glad you had your Saliors home :) Congrats on your newest grandbaby on the way - Aug is a great month (my birth month - lol)
Good Morning everyone :)
