Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

He didn't bring anything to box home but his call that night was to his mom... I am hoping the letter will be coming to me but it may be going to her as well. From what I'm seeing, it sounds like they are being delivered??

She even included a little note--she put me, her dad, and brother as guests, and to the side she put "I promise to try to get more seats--LOVE YOU XOXOXO" We all know that's probably not gonna be possible--I am hoping that my son might be able to see her graduate since he is going to be there at GL for "A" school. At least we will all be together for the weekend....I can't WAIT to see them both in uniform!!!!

At Midway, the USO is past security, so your sailor needs to meet you in front of that---families out there are good about lending sailors their cells to contact you when they are there...some families like to be there when the busses drive up, but that means you will need to be out there about 1 -2 a.m. since they bus all early in the morning to wait for flights.. You go to the airlines counter with your sailor and with ID, they will give you a gate pass for security. When they announce the sailors to board at the gates, there is usually a standing ovation, by the way. Chicago LOVES its sailors!

debramod: There are 5,000+ plus sailors at RTC on Christmas Day. So no, not all can call home. We always hope that same can, so keep that phone close by, but physically, all cannot. It is very possible that those who have only been there 3 weeks would not have priority to call home. But you can always hope!

And SaipanSweethearts is correct. Nothing can return to RTC with them...phones, laptops, etc must be exchanged at the airports....or...if staying at GL for A School, when they return from liberty.

I just went to my cousins graduation-me,her fiancé, and her sister, and they wouldn't let her have anything so he met her at the airport at 3am to give her her stuff. If her school is in GL, then heck yeah, bring it. My cousin went to Meridian though so I only saw her for a little bit because I kinda felt like her fiance should get the most time u know?
