~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

LadyHawk: You may want to consider going to Sarge's MeetandGreet instead. He will have tons of very helpful info for you all. He is retired military himself, in the area for 30 yrs. He provides transportation for the sailors at A School base and is very beloved by them. His "team" is wonderful and provides transportation from the airports, to/from PIR, and around town. He and his wife provide the free food to you all....out of their own pockets. We have never heard a bad word against him! So think about it!
DNmom: All of the MeetandGreets are on the night before PIR.
For times and more info on the MeetandGreets, check the column on the right side of the page.
I got my form letter! I was sooo happy I screamed and cried! My fiance is ship 04 Div 806. I am the happiest person in the world right now!
Just got the FORM letter! YES! Just what I needed to see today. My son is SHIP 02 DIVISION 913. Anyone else? My wish is that we all can receive our Form letters by Christmas!
lemonelephant, I have a friend who's son graduated back in March of 2012. She was mentioning a meet and greet on Thursday evening..just wondering about this and what time we need to schedule our flight.
Tara, they don't fly anyone out right after graduation anymore. They have done that in at least 2 years. The soonest they fly out now would be early the morning after PIR. They go to the airport about 2 to 3 am then the flights usually start around 6 am and can be anytime that day. They can also be the day after that if there are not enough flights available. In most cases you can meet them at the airport and spend some extra time with them there. If they are told they are on a chartered flight then you can't meet them at the airport because they will go straight from the base to the jet and won't come in the airport. This rarely happens, only twice since I have been here 2 and a half years and one of those chartered flights had my Sailor on it. We had no clue so we were inside the airport looking for her when we found out we wouldn't get to see her. There were a lot of very sad families in the USO that morning and I hope no one else has to go through that. They will sometime charter a flight because when they have a whole lot of Sailors all going to the same airport it is more cost effective to charter a jet than to pay for individual tickets. Hopefully all of you will get several extra hours at the airport to hang out with your Sailors where you can give them their cell phone and laptops to take with them if they have one :)
Anyone elses SR on Ship 13?
Getting Excited for February!
Does anyone know when the SRs can make calls and there is a particular day when they can call?
