OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

MM = Machinist's Mate

Welcome to the group, tara!  Glad you found it!  I hope that her sister will still go to Great Lakes to hang out with her after PIR!  Sorry about the guest reductions for PIR.  That was a change as of Jan 1 2013.  Before that, 4 were allowed, and 12 and under didn't need to be on the list, so more than 4 could come.  And most times, other "extras" got in.  But they have tightened up on that now---no extras, only 2 yrs and under get in without being on list.  Probably fire restrictions in the PIR Hall?  Not sure, but that hall was sometimes very overflowing!  Since it is an indoor ceremony, restrictions have to apply.

Good Morning All !

Hi.. I'm new!  Just got a letter from my daugher - well,  the form letter they send out.  Her PIR is 2/8 and she is Ship 14 Div 094.  She is only able to have 3 guests at PIR - Her sister (only sister, 14) wasn't on it - - boyfriend trumped her.  I'm so glad I found this site!

emilysmom, MM would probably mean Machinist Mate (job) and the E-3 would be their pay grade, and it can be in the nuclear field.

Comment by Regi on December 21, 2012 at 2:46am

to emilysmomSHIP12DIV090, I'm quite sure that MM is a code for the Nuke program.  I'm assuming that she's headed to South Carolina after graduation.

Comment by Regi on December 21, 2012 at 2:42am

Nana, my son in Div 092, will also be going to Nuke after February 8th.

Comment by diannep on December 21, 2012 at 12:03am

VIP nana:  The 900 divisions are usually made up of SRs with pretty high ASVAB scores since they have to be able to do all of their Navy work+ practice for performances, and stay up with it all.  The 800 divisions have extra training too.

LadyHawk:  My son PIRed back in 2010.  I just stay on the PIR groups to help out!

Lala:  What I heard on the news about Southwest a couple of days ago is that they will charge for "no shows".  Still no change fee...but if you just don't show up or are late, there will be a penalty.  The also still don't charge for the 2 checked bags, but will charge for the 3rd.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 20, 2012 at 11:47pm

Southwest has been the only airline for a while that doesn't charge a fee for changing you tickets if you should need to and they are the only one who doesn't charge for a check bag. But, I did see on the news yesterday that they are making some changes and may now be charging a change fee. I don't think it takes affect until sometime after the new year. If I get chance I will look it up and see what their charges are going to be and when they start.

I will be adding Division Discussions within this PIR GROUP in a day or two.

Please do not go and form individual GROUPS on here for your Divisions.

We make one PIR GROUP for the date and then we open up the Discussion FORUM area on the Group and form them there.

That wat you all can pretty much have one place for the 8 weeks to gather information and get support, connect with each other as a Group and then even more so on a Divisional basis...specifically for BC, (that of course doesn't mean that you can't join other groups for support as well!:-)...it's just as far Training Group purposes).

It would also be to many GROUPS on here. After PIR tomorrow there will be 7 TG's at RTC, totalling 63 Divisions...at least 5000+ Recruits. We get a fraction of that on here memberwise.

Keep connecting on here ask, ask, ask questions...there are no dumb ones! We're here to help!

You are now officially:

TG 13 - 14 Divisions (089-100, 806 and 913) Graduate Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. Each recruit will be permitted 3 guests.

...as per the RTC Website.
