Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi Ladies!  I am a mom to two sailors, my son and his girlfriend.  He is graduating 2/1 and is in Ship 04 Div 087.  Just got his GF's info today from her recruiter and she is Ship 14 Div 094.  So excited to attend 2 graduations!

BrieMarie93, did you know there was already a facebook group for this PIR Group? Y'all may want to combine and have just one group so everyone can be together. It has been created for a few days or maybe longer. Here is the link to that group https://www.facebook.com/groups/285806964855800/ You will fine several members there as well as some veterans there to help as well including me :)

Everyone who does go to facebook please be sure and stay on this group as well. There will lots of info on both sites and some of it you will only find on this page. There are also some members on this site who don't "do" facebook and you want to be able to form that special bond with them as well :) Beside we love having you all here too :)

Hi

Received the form letter and was so please to see that she wrote little notes on the bottom "miss you all day, everyday" and "it's Fun, not as bad as I expected"  Seeing that letter in the mailbox made me dance around and put a huge smile on my face.

Hi everyone, I am Lala, one of your veteran Moms. I have been helping out on this site since my daughter had PIR in July 2010. In boot camp she was in the performing division and sang in the choir. While she was in A-school she married a young man she met in DEP. 4 days later he left for boot camp. They have now been married just over two years and are both based in VA Beach. My daughter has been preparing for deployment that is to happen early in 2013 but now that they are expecting a baby she won't be deployed for a long while. This Christmas they are supposed to be able to come home which is awesome since they were not home on Christmas the last two years. My son-in-law is an IT3 and my daughter is an AO3. For any of you who will have an AO please let me know if you have any questions. I learned a lot about that rate when my daughter chose it.We just recently found out that our Sailors are expecting their first baby and it is my first grandbaby so we are super excited :)

I am very happy to help you all in any way I can and I look forward to hearing all about you and your recruits. Feel free to friend request me if you like. I hope you all are have a wonderful experience on this site. It was a life saver for me!!! I know it is very hard with your recruits being away but just try to remember this is what they wanted to do and for many they are fulfilling their dream. They are in good hands and you will be seeing them before you know it. The days drag by but the weeks pass quickly. I look forward to getting to know you all and adding some more wonderful friends to my Navy family.

Good evening all!  My son is on ship 3 div 091...got "the box" yesterday.  I was surprised to see this stuff folded somewhat neatly..lol !  Makes me wonder if he was the one who packed it...definately out of character for him.  Now, just waiting on on the form letter.
