Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by louielou on February 28, 2013 at 7:12pm: Hello Ladies, Can you believe it's been 3 weeks already since PIR? I still miss my son. :( But at least I can talk to him daily now. three4me, I was told at least 4 weeks for the DVD and about 8 weeks for the book/Keel.

He started classes on Monday and will be in California for 13 weeks, at least, before we find out where he will be stationed. He is hoping for Gulfport, MS.

Comment by K's Mom! on February 28, 2013 at 11:27am: Yes, it is upsetting, especially to think that it is someone that is in our Military - their supposed to uphold strong core values and one is honesty. Apparently some people cannot be changed even through bootcamp :/ Praying there are no more instances for him and he learned to lock up everything!

Kathyb - I haven't tried Skype yet but I am going to have to do that! My son would love to Skype with his younger brother and sister (3 &5). I see from fb that some Sailors have already gotten their orders for where they will be stationed. I think it will be a while for my son. He hasn't classed up yet and it could be another couple months possibly before he starts. He said he doesn't mind though since he is back in Florida for the time being - lol I think he is looking forward to his girlfriend flying out probably next month for a visit. I want to take a trip up there and visit him and see the base. Since he will be there for a while I should get that opportunity :) Congrats Sailsetter on your boy getting Classed up! :D

I told my son to be sure to lock it up but he hasn't done so. I think they all feel that there is a strong trust and that no one would steal

I do love that my son is accessible now. he called yesterday and said he classed up, started classes today.

My son is in Port Hueneme, CA for A School and there is nothing out there. I have found the facebook page and it helps although there isn't much activity there are lots of photo's. Skype is a terrific thing. We have found that Sunday nights work great for that. Hope everyone is enjoying the "freedom".
