~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I kept looking for my son in the BC pictures and never found him, there were several that were close though. The division before him had several pictures, and his division was right behind them. :( There were others where I was sure he had to be there, but never found him.
Graduation pics from A School posted and the first one I saw I yelled "thats him". My oldest looked at the pic and said "yep that's his mouth and chin", that's all you could see. LOL
When he came home for stand down, we went through the pics from his BC days. Several times he said he was in them, one was his elbow (the pic was of those behind him), another, he knew where he was but all you could see was his left foot, in another one he pointed our his forehead and hat. Even his group photo from BC it just his hand because they were all acting goofy.
So, when you are with your sailor ask him if he/she is in any of the pics, he/she may be, but it might just be a body part. :)
LadyHawk- Not Marie but...
After you go through security there should be restaurants or a small shop (don't know which AP you are flying out of. Google it and you should be able to get a map etc.) to buy water. Water was available on the plane.
I was allowed a carry on (I took one of those small suitcase carry ons with wheels. The airline website had the dimensions) and my Purse. It was the same for my boys...same carry on and they could have had a laptop bag/ or a back pack. I had snacks in my purse and carry-on...as the carry on had to be stored overhead but I could keep my purse with me. I just stored it under the seat on take off and landing.
Check with your Airline online.
That is so funny Navy Mom, I saw a scarfed SR the other day too and kept telling my husband that's him! There were 2 more shots of same SR and they didn't look like him at all. Wishful thinking. Now this morning on FB900 Div, I found one pic that I could be positive is my SR and another mom already posted that it is hers! I guess I will have to share LOL. One of my coworkers watched her son's whole graduation (Air Force) a few years ago and at the end of it she ran up to her "son" to find out she was watching the wrong guy all along.
oh dear!! I just laugh at myself to think i could possibly recognize his eyebrow. :O)
Yep, thought I saw a pik of my SR when he was there....printed it out...showed him at PIR...his response: No, Mom! That is NOT me. OOOPS! Why is it that with shaved heads and faces, and the same uniform, they all look alike? Shouldn't we know our own children??? ;-)
Thanks Lala - that is what I am afraid of! haha Anxiously waiting for more pics from the day! hehe
Sailsetter - that would be awesome if you found him in those pics! Moms usually know their kids every feature! It is probably mixed right now for us though with what we "know" and what we "hope for". Can't wait til you can show your SR and he can say "yes, that's me" :) Until then, we will say it is!
I know what you mean Ks mom. in one of the pics posted on RTC FB the other day, I was 99% sure one of the scarfed SRs was my son just by seeing his eyebrow. :O) and im going to keep hoping!!
That would be so cool if it was him :) I hope you find more pics that make you positive. Sometimes the guys all look so much alike with their haircuts it's hard for a mom to pic out their own kid and I know a few who even at PIR watched the wrong Sailor the whole time during PIR. They only found out months later when watching the video with their Sailor that they had been watching the wrong one lol. So it can be really hard to find them. At least with a pic you can keep looking at it, show it to family and even make it bigger lol. I hope it is him :)
Lala - that is what I have been reading so I was a little confused when my son said 3 starting this week. He just may be right - I was scanning some pics this morning that have been posted and there is one with some SR's walking in and from the side I am 99% sure it is my son. My mom picked him out right away too. Could be wishful thinking so I am hoping to catch another photo. The Div our boys are in is 913 (Ship Staff/Honor Guard).
