~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

hahah that's great momof4, I bet my SR is going into zombie-mode right about now. So they are full sail ahead? Any hiccups along the way?Waiting for my letter too.
Can I tip the Mailman to be faster?!?!
sailsetter/Keke: You are very welcome. All of us N4Moms veterans have "been there, done that" and know how we felt---pretty helpless during bootcamp!. I was so lost when my son went through back in 2009/2010. Knew nothing....didn't even know what questions to ask. Then my son was switched to another division after being asmoed (setback) for a week, so I had to change PIR groups on here. Yikes....I wish now I had asked more questions than I did. Although there were a couple of N4Moms veterans on there to help at the time, they weren't on that much and so we tried to find out our own info many times. It was then that Jessica, another mom going through at the time, and I decided to stay on and help with what we knew after PIR. I was so naive that I didn't even realize that I could have visited with my son at the airport before he flew out to A School! The sailors are not told this (sometimes they are told that they can't have family visit with them...but that is not true).
So....we always encourage you ladies in these groups to stick around after your sailor PIRs and share your experiences with the next groups! We constantly update our info from what you all share after your PIR.
THANK YOU FTLW!!!!!!! and all other veteran wife, moms etc who help us out on this site :)
Kspeachmom - so glad you will be at PIR! See, you aren't behind at all :) Your daughter will do great!!!! Maybe I will see you there!
I just love all the veteran moms on here!!!! You all ROCK! :D
Momof4 - I am with you - all done and ready to go! haha
gma - no news is good news! Don't wait to write - write them often, even if they don't have much time to write, they need to have lots of encouragement coming in :) As far as booking your hotel and flight - I wouldn't wait too long ;) All the hotels in the area look like they are great as far as if you have to cancel or change dates - even up to the day of! As for flights - I booked with Southwest - they had the best price when I was looking AND they don't charge for having to change the date if necessary :) Good luck in booking everything :) Hope you get a letter VERY soon!!! :D
VIP Nana - as far as I know Div 913 is doing very well! I have only received one letter so far - really hoping another one is in the mail for me today! hehe From what a few others posted the Div is working great together and they should be on their second week of training starting today. There have been a couple calls out but I think those were only for security clearance things - very quick calls - nothing more. Hope you have a few letters in your mailbox when you tomorrow night!!! I am not sure about attire - weather is going to be my determining factor! LOL I will probably dress up somewhat - obviously a wonderful ceremony and our Sailors will be in uniform :) Most likely I will be in dress pants - with long johns underneath - haha but then again, I will probably want to wear boots! Maybe a long skirt with high boots and long johns still underneath! :D
VIP Nana- Last I heard from my SR and other people in the same DIV as us. They are doing great overall and training ahead of schedule. He did complain about having 4 min. showers with 84 other guys and only with 8 shower heads was a pain though. That and they only get around 2-4 hrs of sleep a night. Sounds like they're still in week 1.
diannep thank you for sticking around and offering words of comfort and wisdom. What a comfort to come here, so new, trying to learn the language and ways of the Navy, feeling so raw, out of place and desperate for news, but having veteran BC moms that know exactly what it is like to burst into tears at a small reminder of their SR and give a calm..."I made it and you will too" vote of confidence. To have gone through this side of BC during both Thanksgiving and Christmas and having a reassuring and understanding voice to empathize, pray with and giggle with has begun to build friendships of support and a countrywide cheer team, that is priceless.
Thanks so much diannep :)
momof4, it sounds like you are ready :)
