Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Wow...bonus week...just received another letter. My SR is still doing well...was a bit down on Valentine's day since he couldn't talk with his gf...but he will soon enough. He passed his physical fitness test and got a perfect score on an inspection! He was excited...they were going shooting the next day.

To add on to the info zStratMom offered below, the "candle lighting" means lighting blue candles in honor of your SR-soon-to-be-sailor. This is done once they are sailors too, whenever you are thinking of them, praying for them, etc...during a test, drill, deployment, etc...just an outward sign that your SR/sailor is always with you! Some have actually found candles with a Navy emblem online to order, but any blue candle will do! Preferably one that smells really good! For those who light them for BattleStations (overnight drill) and don't want to "burn down the house," many have gotten the electric candles instead.

Some of us in 083 have discussed the scarf color choice on another discussion, and we have chosen yellow, with a blue anchor applique, if available.

The easiest thing is to start a discussion and list each of the divisions, then update as the families choose colors, sample format below:
81 - (choice)
82 - (choice)
83 - (choice)
Feel free to have FUN - at my last PIR we had: RED, Navy, Royal Blue, Orange, Green, etc.

Hi, Moms / wives / gfs! You are all at a ***fun*** time in your and your SRs journey!! PIR is not too far away, and you can start planning some of the shared activities for battlestations (candle lighting), Meet & greets (these are great!--put faces to all the psuedonyms), and even deciding if you want scarves (each division chooses a color, so 1-it's easy to find families at the meet & greets, and 2-your sailor finds you in the sea of families in the bleachers) and, finally, you can opt for ribbons. I see diannep & FTLW have been answering all your questions and taking good care of you. :)

Hey All...I know some are on FB...but just in case the TT Photo for 11/084 is delayed until next week as not all of the Division was together...getting photos done and appointments. They will try to plan a special pic for the delay.
