Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

How to add a Discussion

Hello Everyone!

I am going to invite you to start your Divisional Discussions in the Discussion Forum area.

How to add a Discussion - Go to the bottom left corner of the DF area (It's actually just above the comment box here.) and click "Add a Discussion".

Fill in the Title and any description you like.

For DIV discussion Titles a suggestion would be:

SHIP ##/ DIV ###

Click “Add Discussion” at the bottom right.

Simple as that! Then the other members from your div can reply and you can connect up even closer there.

Remember that you are ALL part of this TG though and to stay on the main pages to talk here too! Plus, we veteran moms mostly stay on the main pages of the groups. There are 7-8 PIR groups running at one time and so we do not get to the DF's as much. We do check them as often as we can...OPSEC rules apply there also.

- The Discussion Forum area will only show twenty titles at a time. It is also set to show the "latest activity". So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" up to the top. Whatever is at the bottom will disappear. So, if you want to see more click, "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.

To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter and add the reply. Then get rid of it by clicking the "x" in the top right hand corner. The discussion will stay up there at the top without your reply. It's because it has had "activity".

When you view a DF the first post ever made will be the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply”.

You will notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.

If you look up above sjtina has started a discussion for the SPECOPS DIV...her Sailor went through BC as SPECOP. Please ask her on there too just to make sure? She's great!

You are correct Demetris and I shouldn't have used "held" when rwferingbtibtje MRPO either...just that that is part if the reason it takes time.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on January 27, 2012 at 5:20pm: Demetris - We are told NOT to send packages at all as far as the Family Guide goes. We then advise the moms to just not do it because they could get thrown out...waste of money and of course the possibility of IT.
I am torn on saying it is okay...as I know the moms are going to want to do it and with 4000-5000+ recruits at RTC this could be a madhouse! Plus, I do not want RTC getting PO'd at us...we are not a Navy monitored site...in fact if you try to promote us on the RTC FB page they will delete it ( they do not allow ANY promoting of any other entities, hotels and such in all fairness so I understand that).
So, I am going to tell you moms NOT to send packages of goodies at all. Please save it for PIR.
The only thing you can send package wise is:makeup for the females, sometimes a hot iron and contacts (anyone) with a travel size solution for PIR. AND this is only if they ask you too...then you are pretty sure that they have asked their RDC and gotten.the okay.
