For those who have not received letters you can always write them at the generic RTC address. It may take a day or 2 extra but the letter will get to them. I'm not sure if I am allowed to put the address on this discussion, but you can always google RTC great lakes address and it comes up. THEY WILL GET THE LETTERS....Hope this helps
Just a note...Your sailors do not have alot of time to write letters especially during the first 3 or 4 weeks of boot camp. They are learning alot of drills and in school and doing pt most of the day. Then in the evening they are cleaning and studying. Usually the only time they are given time to "breathe" and write is on Sunday, during holiday routine. During this time they will be allowed to go to church or write letters, iron or just to study. But there is not RDC training during that time. When I was an RDC holiday routine ended at 1pm and training commenced. So don't expect too many letters during the beginning, but if they do write them they will do so on Sunday and you will get them during the week. However they do get mail every night, usually after studying and cleaning the house, just before TAPS depending on the RDC. Hope that helps...
Thanks proud mom 93 and Betsy. I am very anxious to get the letter. I guess I'm not a very patient person. I did get his ship and division from the recruiter. I'm hoping it doesn't change. Right now we think he's Ship 09 Division 091. Maybe it will come tomorrow. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but if proud mom 93 lives that close and hasn't received hers, I'm doubtful. I'll just try to be more patient. Thanks for your input.
NavySoccerMom, it should be coming any time now. When my son was in BC, it took about 10 or 11 days for his form letter to get to me. I was living in New Mexico at the time, so it could be longer if you live further away. Just keep writing those letters and when you get the official letter, I would mail them. I was an anxious mom and called the recruiter for the address, only to find out that the one that he gave me was wrong. So, the best course is to wait, even though I do know how hard that is to do. Also, it's good to remember that it does take a week or so for each division to train a mail person, so they may not even get any mail for a couple of weeks. I'm sure your letters will get to your son when everyone else gets their letters.
My SR is ship 3 div 089 as well
I still have not received my form letter. It wasn't in the mail today. He left on the 17th. I really want to send him these letters, but I really want to confirm the mailing address first. I'm afraid all his shipmates will be getting mail, and he'll be sitting there wondering why he's not getting any. Ugh.
Demetris, thank you for joining this group. These ladies are so fortunate that you have joined them. Woohoo! Thank you also for helping form some awesome young sailors!
My son is Ship 9, Div. 087 and will be going to A School in Charleston after graduation. He left on Jan. 17 like many of your sons and daughters. It looks likes like we have quite a crowd joining us at PIR on March 16 - THIS IS SO EXCITING:) I know some of you already received your form letter -- I'm still stalking the mailman for mine!! I look forward to chatting with all of you and can't wait to see you in March.
