ChipsAhoy, 03/089 here too. I've met three other parents/spouses on RTC FB page who are 03/089 too. Good to have some sort of connection.

Does anyone have a loved one in Ship 04 Division 807? If so, please message me.

Hi all....

My daughter left on Jan 17th so I am assuming that she is in this grad group.  I was an RDC about 5 years ago so if you have ANY questions or concerns please feel free to reach out.  Your children have made an excellent choice by joining the world's finest NAVY and on graduation day you will be VERY proud of their transition from civilian to sailor....

When you are making your travel arrangements, please also remember that if your local airport has Southwest Airlines, they do fly into Milwaukee.  You are allowed 2 free checked bags on Southwest, which will save your money and a lot of times, SW is also a little cheaper.  Milwaukee is a very easy 45-50 minute drive to Great Lakes from Milwaukee.  We drove it in afternoon rush hour and had no problems at all.

We have heard good things about the Residence Inn and Springhill Suites in Waukegan and others have said that the Navy Lodge and Marriott are quite nice.  I stayed at the Residence Inn and do know that they have nice suites with kitchens and they do allow pets.

Here's a quick rundown of both Meet and Greets:

Sarge:

5-10 pm at the Sundance Saloon.

FREE transportation from Springhill Suites, Marriot Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, Candlewood Suites and Crossland. All other local hotels for a modest fee.

Guest Speaker from the Base to provide info on where to eat, things to do, how to save $$.

FREE food starting at 7 PM….they also have a menu if you want to order something.

Sarge has lived in the area for over 30 years and knows it well.

Sarge has arranged with his friend Nick at Trattoria-Pomigliano in Libertyville for a FREE meal – ANYTHING they want – for your Sailor.

There is a DJ.

Plus, Sarge goes above and beyond the “call of duty” to help Sailors and their families. (He is the “go to” guy for Taxi (shuttle) service. Prices are great and again does more than he has too!)

Ramada:

6-8 pm at the Ramada.

Finger foods – Chips and salsa, veggies and dip, egg rolls, meatballs, maybe another and it could change. (This is what they had when I went. Sarge was not doing a Meet and Greet then)

Bar – or you can bring in your own soft drink or water. Those staying at the Ramada get a voucher for to free drinks.

Hostess provides a name tag and will come in and greet everyone and ask if anyone would like to speak.

BOTH events are open to everyone. There will be people there that know nothing about N4M’s. Invite them!

Hi J's Mom, My son is in the same Ship/DIV.  How are you doing?

Got my letter today too!  Ship 03, Div 090.  See you all in Chicago!

Comment by Mary123 (ship 03 div. 090) on January 26, 2012 at 11:47pm

Hi!  I'm feeling sort of overwhelmed with all of these decisions to make regarding graduation.  I'm flying in from Wa. state and am not sure where to fly into or where to stay.  I read somewhere about Sarge's Meet and Greet in Milwaukee.  Is that what most people do? His PIR is Mar. 16.
