Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by A` on March 6, 2012 at 6:57pm: Thank you so much everyone for prayer!! They did not think my brother would live through the night but I guess he is to much of a terd! He had second surgery this morning and they were able to remove the breathing tube earlier than planned. I have to admit, I was not only panicked but scared! Thank you again for all your prayers and for this amazing site!!

I have seen someone use the Red Cross also to contact a Recruit. It happened in another PIR group and they had a Chaplain assist in the call also. They were able to get phone calls to him or he made them to his family. I can find the post if you like.

But I am sure they hook you up with Chaplain Care like zStratMom said. :-)

My brother had emergency surgery and they were not sure he would make it...still very critical at this point. At a place where I could not get numbers so reached out here. Got home and chatted on here and will now be able to sleep...I think! zStratMom thank you...for your time and your prayers! I am simply in awe.....and feeling blessed for this site!

Comment by zStratMom on March 6, 2012 at 12:55am: You can also reach out to RTC, and they can have your SR contact you. But, depending on the emergency, you may want the chaplain engaged. Here's what will happen: When you contact the number, they will take your info (including email). A chaplain will be engaged who will reach out to you, or--depending on the circumstances--link with a chaplain at RTC. They will keep you posted via email.
