What is the name of Ship 02 Division 919?
Comment by A` on February 28, 2012 at 6:43pm

I got a letter with about 6 lines....I guess he was in a hurry! LOL!

I am grateful for the letters but a little jealous that so many other parents/family have gotten many calls. I have had one....10 minutes! Like I said before, 10 minutes is better than nothing! I would love to hear his voice but I will hear it live and in person soon enough! I have to say, if they take away liberty I would be greatly disappointed. So, I am thinking positive and looking forward to spending time with him!

I agree with zStratMom;  The ship name is not necessary on the mail....the important info is the ship # / div #.  Check the RTC link below and you will see it is not necessary:

http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp

Yep, she's right.  They will be told lots of things that need to be "tweaked" by us just a bit :-)   ...just a little!  In one PIR group, they were told that no families can see them at the airport (only true if on a charter flight).  So many were told this that we thought there had been some kind of extra security put in place for our troops at the airports and checked it out.  Nope, things were status quo...the sailors were allowed to have family with them at the airports.

I know, it's frustrating. I wrote daily and mailed every three days. I wondered where my mail was going. You will hear all sorts of things from various SRs / divisions . . .  for example, "you must put 'slash' marks in all the zeros"--this is simply not true. There's no real explanation other than Welcome to government processing! Fear not, your mail WILL get there. : )

Comment by zStratMom on February 28, 2012 at 12:59pm

Ok, moms & dads, you can include the ship name, but it isn't necessary. Your SRs will be told lots of things.

Comment by ZachsDad (ship03/div089 ) on February 28, 2012 at 12:33pm

Regarding letters.  My SR told us in a letter that the mail people told him ( div? ) that we needed to include his ship name as well as ship # and div #.  I thought we only had to address it like it was written in the form letter.  Some of his letters seem to make me think he's not getting all mail sent.  Good to know he has received mail from both grandmas and sent a letter to my mom--not sure about the other.

Comment by NavySoccerMom on February 28, 2012 at 11:20am

17 more days, and we get to see our SR's march through that big door.  43 down 17 to go.  We are almost 3/4 of the way done.   I am so ready!  Hope everyone is having a great day!

Comment by diannep on February 28, 2012 at 9:38am

Strange on the letters not getting there.  They are not supposed to hold mail.  Maybe a mailroom glitch...hope the letters start flowing soon!

Good morning all!

Ship 2 DIV 919. I noticed that since the first phone Call that something was wrong with the letters because she told me that she just received my first letter When I had already send 7 letters. And her last Call last week the last letter she Got was the Navy4mom's questionnaire and after that one I send 10 letters :/

I have also heard if they volunteer for watch in the middle of the night they won't get watch on the weekend but I have no idea if that is true. A couple Sailors have told me they did that :-)
