OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

There is also a discussion up above that explains departures from RTC and Liberty.

 http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir03162012/forum/topics/after-pir...

It has the exerpt from the RTC Family guide and what we have experienced...also what happened with my sons Liberty.

This page:

http://www.facebook.com/TrainingSupportCenterGreatLakes?sk=notes#!/...

...is TSC's Notes page. On it you will find lots of helpful notes that pertain to your Sailors time while he/she is in training at TSC.

There is an Abridged Phased Liberty policy post.

Someone who is on RTC FB may ask the mail question on there too.  Like Lala said, when our sailors were there, they got mail 5-6 days a week.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on February 27, 2012 at 10:00am

I really don't understand that A, they are not allowed to withhold mail so I don't think they would do that. I have heard a couple others say they only have mail call a couple times a week, which I had also not heard of before. It was 5 or maybe even 6 days a week for my Sailor. But even if they had mail call only twice a week that would rally just mean they would have a lot more letters on those days. It makes no sense to me. For all of you who have a list of questions to ask when your SR gets to call be sure and ask them how often they have mail call and then let us know what they say and what DIV they are in. Thanks

I agree with Lala.  We have never heard of the GL A School students not getting liberty over the weekend.  So keep the faith!

Ok Im a little peeved right now! I know, I know I shouldnt be and should remain postitive but....As I am reading my son's letters (yes, I am thrilled to have letters!) he dated he was writing on the 19th. Ok, I get that! But he is talking about recieving my letter # 4.....why is he so far behind on mail? No wonder he thinks I never write him! Letter # 4! Really! He fusses at me every time to write more and thats why. He thinks I hardly write! He seems to be getting my letters very slowly and I get his pretty regular! Ohhhhh, this Navy life is going to take some getting used too! :(

Lala, that is another sign of our children growing up.  They are GLAD their mothers are right.  lol

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on February 26, 2012 at 10:18pm

The RDC's often tell them they won't get any time on Sat or Sun and hopefully they are wrong as they have been in the past. they also tell the recruits leaving for other bases on Sat that no one can meet them at the airport and they are not allowed to have their phones but once they get to that airport or the other base in GLakes someone else is in control and the Sailors are very glad their moms were right :-)

Thank you all for your prayers and loving support...it keeps me uplifted!

I promise I will be back on more tomorrow...chillin' with the Fam tonight.

Comment by A` on February 26, 2012 at 6:55pm

Well, I hope this is not the case as I plan to stay through Monday 3/19! If not well, I guess I will get a vacation from my family back in Texas.....and then just wonder what my SR is up too!

Vickie: I can't help you much, but husband is staying in Great Lakes for Undes Seaman school and he kept telling me not to even come see him graduate because he wasn't going to see me at all. They must be telling them that for some reason. I am going anyway of course... But I hate it that he is so discouraged about it.
